Ugwuaji-Makurdi 330kV Transmission Line Tower T195 Vandalised - TCN Commends Community Vigilance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) hereby states that its Tower T195 along the Ugwuaji – Makurdi 330kV transmission Line was vandalized on Saturday, January 25, 2025,


at Watuolo Village, Utonkon in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

The vandalism was thwarted by the vigilance of the community members, who at about 3:00 am noticed suspicious activity around the tower and promptly apprehended one of the vandals while the others escaped.

@TCN_NIGERIA announces that two towers along its 330kV Shiroro–Kaduna transmission lines one and two have been vandalized, damaging parts of both transmission lines.
According to reports from the Shiroro Regional office of TCN, the 330kV transmission line one tripped first, followed shortly by the second, as efforts were still ongoing to reclose the first line, prompting the urgent mobilization of local vigilantes to patrol the lines. GRID SHUT DOWN : LABOUR UNION DELIBERATELY SHUTS DOWN THE NATIONAL GRID.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria hereby informs the general public that the Labour Union has shut down the national grid, resulting in black out nationwide. The national grid shut down occured at about 2.19am this morning, 3rd June 2024.

FALSE PUBLICATION BY DAILY POST ON NATIONAL BLACKOUT

The Transmission Company of Nigeria hereby states that the publication by Daily Post alleging that the Head of Public Affairs of TCN said that there will be a national blackout is false and totally misleading. The statement is mischievous and baseless as TCN, through the Public Affairs Head, did not make such statement.

We hereby note that the nation's grid is intact and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centers nationwide.

NINE TCN TOWERS COLLAPSE DUE TO THE ACTIVITIES OF VANDALS

TCN hereby states that nine towers, from Tower 56 to Tower 65
along the Papalanto/Abeokuta 132kV transmission line has collapsed due to the activities of vandals.

The towers located in the Obafemi Owode area of Ogun State were all massively vandalized, leading to their collapse.

TCN LAGOS REGION TAKES DELIVERY OF A BRAND NEW 300MVA POWER TRANSFORMER . . . Boosts Transmission Capacity

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) took delivery of a brand new 300MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at its Lekki 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation on April 30, 2023, the latest addition of new transformers delivered to the substation. Earlier, the substation received two brand new 60/75MVA power transformers in February and three heavy-duty truckloads of transformer components in January, 2023, among others.

TCN'S WHEELING CAPACITY AND TRANSMITTING PEAK GENERATION

TCN's wheeling capacity as simulated by its System Planning Department is 8,100MW and since the simulation was carried out, TCN has continued to expand the nation's grid by rehabilitating and upgrading brown field/existing projects and building new/green field projects.

The projects are in various TCN's old or new Substations nationwide, from the North to the South, to the East and West. The projects - substations, lines and systems operations projects are numerous and on ground nationwide.
