South African National Parks says there is overwhelming support from Cape Town residents for firefighters currently fighting a running fire in Table Mountain National Park. Scores of community members and businesses came in numbers today, Sunday, 18 April 2021 at the Newlands Firebase to drop off food, water, energy drinks and assortment of other necessities required said TMNP Park Manager Frans van Rooyen.

Media Release: Rhodes Memorial Fire Update

SANParks - Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) can confirm that the Rhodes Memorial Fire was reported at 09:00. TMNP/ contract wildfire crews (NCC Wildfire) from the Newlands Firebase were dispatched immediately. The location of the fire was immediately above Philip Kgosana Drive/Hospital Bend.
