1/The hardest thread yet! Are you up for the challenge?

How stroke perfusion imaging works!

Ever wonder why it’s Tmax & not Tmin?

Here’s what to know from @theAJNR SCANtastic!

ajnr.org/content/47/1/28Image 2/Perfusion imaging is based on one principle: When you inject CT or MR intravenous contrast, the contrast flows w/blood & so contrast can be a surrogate marker for blood.

This is key, b/c we can track contrast—it changes CT density or MR signal so we can see where it goes. Image

1/Having trouble remembering what to look for in vascular dementia on imaging?

Everyone w/memory loss has infarcts. Which are important?

Latest @theajnr SCANtastic has what you need to know:

ajnr.org/content/46/5/1…Image 2/Vascular cognitive impairment, or its most serious form, vascular dementia, used to be called multi-infarct dementia.

It was thought dementia directly resulted from brain volume loss from infarcts, w/the thought that 50-100cc of infarcted related volume loss caused dementia Image

1/Ready to seize the day w/epilepsy imaging?

Everyone knows mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS)!

But did you know there are different KINDS of MTS??

Read on for this month's @theAJNR SCANtastic on what YOU need to know in the latest in epilepsy imaging!

Image 2/The name of the “hippocampus” comes from its shape on gross anatomy.

Early anatomists thought it looked like an upside down seahorse—w/its curved tail resembling the tail of a seahorse.

Hippocampus literally means seahorse. Image

1/Feeling mad every time they ask you if it’s safe to give gad?
Do you know which gadolinium contrast material is safe to give?
At an impasse about the contrast class?
Read on as this month’s @theAJNR SCANtastic answers the question: Is Gad Bad?
ajnr.org/content/45/8/1…
Image 2/Whether or not to give gadolinium is a common question, as almost 1/2 of all MRI studies use gadolinium contrast. Contrast-enhanced imaging  can help elucidate many different pathologies, including tumors, demyelinating disease, & infection Image

1/Waving the white flag when it comes to white matter anatomy?

Turns out white matter anatomy isn’t black & white!

This months @theAJNR SCANtastic is the white knight you need to rescue you!

Here’s the white matter anatomy you NEED to know!

#AJNRSCANtasticajnr.org/content/45/5/5…Image 2/Gray matter or cortical functional anatomy is well known.

Everyone knows the motor & sensory strips. Most know Broca’s & Wernicke’s

But most forget that white matter has similar functional topography & just bc it’s white matter doesn’t mean it doesn’t have function! Image

1/Keep forgetting what to look for on scans for Alzheimer’s disease?

Do you just gestalt the volume loss & hope no one questions?

Or hope automated software provides an answer?

This week’s SCANtastic with from @theAJNR will show you a better way!

ajnr.org/content/44/12/…
Image 2/Specific patterns of atrophy are associated w/Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Atrophy often involves the hippocampus & the anterior/medial portion of the adjacent parahippocampal gyrus, called the entorhinal cortex

This is where to should look for volume loss on imaging, but how? Image
