I know a few people who owned this 3 geared Mahindra. I think the engine was CJ 500 D. There were some variants with FRP bodies (5 door) and these FRP kits had a big “R” on its tailgate as the company which made the FRP bodies was Roplas. Changing gears was a bicep workout
This model continued with modifications many years later and was rebadged as “Major”. Was a huge improvement over Mahindra CJ500D. Don’t know if it was changed to 4 geared but had the monicker ‘Major’ right under the windshield. It had rectangular side indicators

You see Mark 3 and Mark IV Ambassadors in Hindi film “Parineeta”? In Marathi film “Ani Kashinath Ghanekar the tail lamps of Ambassadors are Ulhasnagar fitmets. Tata bus is from 1980s. In ‘Raazi’ I think you see a Matador with a Firodia logo.
