Today is the balidan diwas of Amar Shaheed Shri Durga Mall. Major Durga Malla was born on 1 July 1913, at Doiwala in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He was one of those who played an important role in the formation of the Indian National Army and was tasked with intelligence-related ops. At the time of Satyagraha movement, Durga Malla was a student of 9th class, actively engaged in anti-British activities in his locality for which he was arrested and interrogated. In 1931, when he was only eighteen years old, he joined the 2/1 battalion of Gorkha Rifles.
