I'd like to share something personal. I've discovered a game changer for me, and I want to share this with anyone else struggling, especially any of my veteran friends. I've recently learned about thought distortions. It's that little voice in your head that feeds off of negative thoughts and perceptions.

I did a tour in Kirkuk, Iraq. I worked side-by-side with our infantry units. We conducted cordon and searches, raids, dismounted patrols. We worked long, hard hours in the blistering heat in full gear. And not all of us came home. We turned over our base in Kirkuk to the Iraqis in 2011. And with the first threat of ISIS in 2014, the Iraqis abandoned the base. But first, they looted it. They took everything they could. They used shot guns to blow open safes. They ripped out all the electronics.
