Remembering Sadashivrao Bhau the brave and unwavering Maratha Commander in Chief on his birthday today. An intrepid warrior and a great general who died at Panipat defending Bharat from an evil Afghan marauder. He was only slightly over 30 when he was cut down by the grim reaper.

My poetic tribute to Bhau and his supreme sacrifice at Panipat for the country-

Many moons ago, an old milkman (Mr. Iyer) lived with his 3 sons who worked delivering milk produced by the family to many customers who were 15 Kms away. The total milk production was 100 liters per day. From the proceeds the family survived well and had the luxury of good food. The eldest son Hari Narayan Iyer (known as HNI) was built very strong and was asked to carry 50 litres on his head for 15 Kms daily. As he was well-built like an ox, Hari Narayan Iyer happily obliged in the interest of the larger good of the family.

OTD, 1761, about 100000 brave Marathas died defending India from an Afghan marauder at Panipat.

When India in suppliance bent, trembled seeing Abdali's scourge,
From distant Deccan, a gritty and dauntless people did emerge.

While the 'great' Mughals shivered, seeing invincible Durrani's power,
There were hardy-heroic Maratha men who simply refused to cower.

One of the world's eminent historians (and a famous Morgul scholar), Aurdei Freudski, completed her terrestrial duties(including carrying the white man's onerous burden of reforming and educating really intractable Indians) and left for her celestial abode.
As she entered the gates of heaven, she heaved a sigh of relief. "Eat s#it, you damn RW Indians! Look, this proves I was always right and doing a great job. All of you haters, see where I've landed now." While she entered heaven, dressed in her Sunday best, she wore a permanent

Mughals not great?
****************************
India was wallowing in darkness,
And needed an enlightening lord

From Farghana marched the Mongol,
With his band of peaceful Chagtai horde To two great souls-Timur and Chengiz,
The first Mughal did his ancestry trace

Mission was to teach and reform India,
So backward and such a basket case!
