With Ruben Amorim arriving in Manchester with A LOT of work to do to get United performing in the short-run, but also to work alongside INEOS to restore some long-term consistent success at the club, what can we expect from the former Sporting manager?

Manchester United vs Brentford- Tactical Preview

- Technical Quality
- Challenges and Solutions for United
A Thread 🧵
Drawing upon Brentford’s performance vs Man City:
Starting with the lineup, we notice one interesting, perhaps unusual selection, the use of a CB (Ajer) at RWB- we will revisit the use of him later.
Typical Brentford setup against top teams though, with the back 3.

Using Dalot as the single #6 in build-up.
Examples of good + bad execution.
🧵
Play through:
- split CBs
- outside to inside shift from Dalot to receive
- Mazraoui first touch opens up forward passing lane
- Garnacho drops deep to link
- Dalot arrives into space
Poor final ball.

Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United - Video Scouting Report 🧵
Strengths, Weaknesses, Adaptation to PL 👇
With Matthijs de Ligt moving to Manchester United for approximately £38.6m, it has been regarded as a very shrewd signing. With United now signing Yoro and De Ligt this summer, CB depth looks better.
Just how suitable a fit is De Ligt?

A Thread 🧵
Erik ten Hag on if he is concerned by shots faced: "As long as we get results, no.”
Erik, you’re in your second season and your first season was a success. You’ve completely thrown everything away this season. We’re not bothered if we lose games, it happens. It’s HOW you lose games.
The results are not the most important thing at THIS STAGE of your tenure. It’s HOW you play. I honestly wouldn’t care if we were sat in 6th, 7th, 8th with an injury crisis, but I could see your vision and we could see it was simply player quality letting you down. In fact, it would feel like a relief to know that within 2 summers, we could really strengthen the squad, get the new footballing structure into place and try to shift the unwanted players out of the club.
It would be a relief to know that you were the man and we could put trust in you for what we can see in your game model. Unfortunately, we just can’t see it, well I certainly can’t. A lot of the underlying data has Manchester United amongst the teams battling for relegation.
Individual player quality is getting us out of trouble again and again, not the manager’s tactics or in-game tweaks.
I think Erik’s time is coming to an end, unfortunately.
Only two teams in the top 5 European Leagues have conceded more shots per game than Manchester United this season.

🧵 Thread of Quotes from Omar Berrada, Manchester United’s soon to be CEO about his time at Manchester City:
“It (winning 5 titles in 10 years) is a result of a vision that the ownership had 12 years ago - to develop a strong academy, to develop a specific way of playing football and to bring the right manager for that type of football. We also needed to bring in the right players for that. Txiki Begiristain has been building the squad for many years and ensuring that we get the right squad balance and bring youth from the academy. It is a combination of everything plus all the work that goes on behind the scenes concerning injury management and prevention, and working with Pep and the coaching staff to ensure player rotation so that all players can hit peak form at the right time.”
“We are very proud of the work the academy has done. The vision was always to develop the best talent and to create a pathway so that the likes of Foden and others can break through and be significant contributors to the first team. To identify, recruit and develop local talent and in some cases, the young talent that has come from Europe, like Eric Garcia, speaks to the work that our academy director and the coaches have put in. We are very confident that there will be more players like Foden who will progress to the first team.”

My thoughts on the current situation at #MUFC ~ A THREAD 🧵
Very, very disappointed today. Felt like today’s game was a great chance to build momentum after a decent run of results in the league recently (albeit most wins coming against inferior opposition).
