Rangers fans thought a right-hander from Alvin Texas would bring them a World Series. Then for one brief moment, they thought #17 was going to clinch it for them.

They were (eventually) correct.

Nolan Ryan, from Alvin, Texas
Nelson Cruz, wearing #17
Nathan Eovaldi, of Alvin, Texas, wearing #17

I have some thoughts on Pride Nights, as I sit in the press box and see this in right field, and consider that one of these teams is the only one in the league that refuses to have one. Big screen showing team log... One thing I think a lot of people (speaking to my fellow Christians here; the “I would never mean to cause hurt, but I’m opposed to Pride Night because of my personal beliefs” crowd) get wrong is what having a Pride Night even means:

I don’t know a single person in the sport who likes this. Not one. Image I'm begging you: if you are in a position to make decisions that impact an entire industry: consult someone outside the marketing department.

This makes literally everyone's job harder. Front offices, already strained by demands of the trade deadline? Do a draft also.

1. NYY comes to Texas to end the season now, not start it. But the big yikes is:
2. One game in Miami during All-Star week, and the other two… Sunday: day game in Texas
Monday: day/night doubleheader in Miami
Tuesday: night game in Texas.

This is extreme “let’s go to Mexico for the weekend, bro” energy

Jon Daniels clarified something today I hadn't seen elsewhere, regarding the logistics surrounding removing players from the 60-man roster, starting now and continuing throughout the season. (THREAD) 1. if a player is not on the 40-man roster, he cannot be removed from the 60-man roster unless he is released.

2. If a player *is* on the 40-man roster, he can be removed from the 60-man roster BUT he would be exposed to waivers first. So: big prospects? Here for the duration.

As many of you know, my dad was a rodeo cowboy. In the vein of @Adam_Jacobi, I have a story I’d like to share. [ahem] In the mid-90s, there was a guy named Cody Ohl who burst onto the scene. He was a calf-roper, team-roper, and steer-roper. Dude ended up being a legend (you can read about him here: prorodeo.com/prorodeo/cowbo… ) but in 1994, he was still a rookie.
