There’s an increasing amount of talk within Democratic circles about how we’re going to lose in November — how tough the Senate map is, how the head to head Presidential numbers look bad. I’ve heard about influential people writing off whole battleground states 9 months out. 🧵
This kind of chatter, despite our electoral wins in New York’s most recent special election and up and down the ballot over the past 3 cycles, dismisses the very real progress we’ve made across the country.

The fight against dark money in politics has always been a one-sided affair. But now it seems, conservatives have finally joined the conversation.

In today’s Playbook, @Politico falls for the classic McConnell dupe. Let’s be clear: Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party are NOT interested in defending our democracy. They’re part of the national strategy to suppress the vote and subvert free and fair elections.
Here’s what we know — on January 6, 2021, the GOP tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 election. Since then, they’ve passed dozens of bills in state legislatures to make voting harder or sabotage our elections, all while enacting extreme partisan gerrymanders in the states.

Today is the eleventh anniversary of the Supreme Court’s #CitizensUnited v. FEC decision: a thread.
Eleven years after the Supreme Court put a for sale sign on U.S. elections, our democracy has been corrupted to favor those with the biggest checks at the cost of the American people, and as we saw on January 6, it is more fragile than ever.
