The most interesting bits of any budget come in the 48 hours after the announcements as the gaps and unintended consequences start to appear. The "potholes", shall we say. After an hour and a half dissecting with our policy team here are a few initial potholes:
1. The big full expensing announcement is rather less generous for non-main pool assets (things like buildings and infrastructure). It also doesn't apply to individuals or partnerships, perhaps not surprisingly 2. The funding planned for investment zones at £80m a pop looks tiny

With global tax reform in the news, and what with me being an international tax adviser, the day job is finally fleetingly relevant. So here's a thread.
This weekend's announcement may seem new but it's been a long time in gestation. 1/24
Whilst it's certainly radical it is some way off implementation and will eventually just become an accepted norm and boring compliance requirement. So what is this global reform the G7 leaders agreed this weekend and why have they done it?
