🧵 1/n The Central Committee of the TNPF examined the choices for President extensively. Thereby we met with the parties that had sought our support over the past two days.

The 13th Amendment to Sri Lanka's constitution which created the Provincial Council (PC) system in 1987 was mooted as a solution to the Tamil National Question. The 13th amendment was a by-product of the Indo-Lanka Accord of '87.
The Provincial Councils were widely pilloried, rejected and boycotted by Tamil people, and considered not even a starting point to Tamil political aspirations of nationhood and self-determination.

After yesterday's first day commemorations of the Mullivaikkal Tamil Genocide Remembrance week our Mullaitivu District organizer T. Kinthujan was visited by TID attempting to arrest and detain him again (he had been arrested previously for his activism). #May18
This morning (14th) Trincomalee police led by the OIC visited our office to search for attendees of commemoration events. They had threatened Trincomalee District organizer Sri Gnaneswaran, to send attendees to quarantine. Watch for details 👇🏾 #May18
