The thing about hasty speech, or in this case press releases, is that even when you delete it, people already have receipts.

So, you'll now have to deal with 2 crises: the actual thing that caused the crisis, and the subsequent ill-thought response to it.

#NATIVELAND19 So, here are 5 things I think @NativeMag could have done better:

1. Be sensitive and emphatic

@NativeMag should not have started this write up by posing as the good guys. I mean, we have receipts that whatever home work you did was really not thorough.

I have stood up to my family, insisting that a particular thing was my choice; written to CEOs demanding my due; left a job cos I felt someone else was being underpaid.

I don't back down.

So when I say I am strong willed, it's not a joke.

Yet, social media messed with my head. I would read posts on Facebook then, and start to think and act differently.

Because many people were basically posting about their fantasies, not reality.

Then I sat back and did a self-evaluation. Blocked all the rubbish from my TL, and told myself: speak up ABOUT REALITY.
