Wow.

Incredible story told by Mitchell Robsinon’s high school coach Butch Stockton.

Stockton explains his wife passed away in September and that Robinson visited her every day she was in the hospital.

At the funeral, Mitch said he’d invite Butch to live with him in NY. Stockton took him up on the offer and has been Robinson’s roommate since the start of the season.
Butch cheers on Mitch after Robinson swishes two straight free throws in the fourth quarter

“I’m in a unique position to have a level of influence on my community.”

Less than a minute later, Irving states: “I am no different than any other human being… You guys come in here and make up this powerful influence I have.”

On Jan. 15, the Knicks were 22-21 and ahead of the Celtics in the standings.

From Jan. 17 through March 4, NY would play 20 games and lose 17 of those contests. NY would go from a game above .500 to 13 games below.

This six-week stretch sunk the Knicks' season

A Thread 🧵 2/
So what happened during that 3-17 stretch? How was a once-promising season derailed so rapidly?

Let's start with the first game during this span. In a loss to Charlotte on Jan. 17, NY failed to protect home court (an issue that plagued them all year), scoring just 87 points…

The real danger in Skip Bayless' ridiculously ignorant comments is that they stigmatize those with the courage to speak out about anxiety and depression.

The fear of being labeled “soft" by clowns like Bayless is why so many (especially males) refuse to seek professional help. Again, money and fame do NOT make human beings immune to anxiety or depression.

Ask Michael Phelps or Serena Williams or Kevin Love or DeMar DeRozan or Jerry West or Joey Votto or a million others.

Exhibiting empathy & expressing sympathy is the least we can do as fellow humans

NBA announces:

“In every city where the league franchise owns and controls the arena property, team governors will continue to work with local elections officials to convert the facility into a voting location for the 2020 to allow for a safe in-person voting.”

Significant. Three NBA franchises (Pistons, Hornets & Hawks) announced earlier this summer they will provide their facilities as a satellite center for the Nov. 3 election.

And the L.A. Dodgers teamed up with LeBron James to convert Dodger Stadium into a polling site for the 2020 election.
