Tweetorial on sub-typing non-small cell lung carcinoma in cytology samples - essentially, how to tell a squamous carcinoma from an adenocarcinoma. The most important distinction at the moment is "Could this be (in whole or in part) an adenocarcinoma?", given the additional ancillary tests typically done on adenocarcinoma and typically not done on squamous carcinoma.

A quick look at the CaRMS vs NRMP stats confirms my very unscientific impression that there's a higher match rate in Canada than in the United States (for first-time applicants, from the respective countries). Why is that? My guess would be just because it's a much bigger country, you have more programmes, so applicants might not apply literally throughout the country if they're in competitive specialities?

Tweetorial on lymph node FNA - beauty in the benign.

Some features will keep you from misinterpreting germinal centre fragments as metastatic carcinoma, or vice versa. First, the normal cells of lymph node, especially those of the germinal centre. The most easily recognizable are tingible body macrophages.

Easy to spot from the apoptotic debris, though not always obvious which cells they belong to - though that doesn't matter. ImageImage
