1/18 This ⬇️ is a useful thread from @WhatTheTrans re the endless lies about the 'trans lobby'.

We have some thoughts on it too.

The ongoing failure of trans groups, such as they exist, to coordinate is key. There are many reasons for this... 2/18 Coordination takes time and resources. You need to go to meetings, put the effort in & share, to have the money to travel etc. You need to have deep emotional resilience because every day you are dealing with material about how people want to destroy YOUR life...

1/ Let's get back to that @EHRC's 'advice' in their April letter re changing the definition of sex to 'biological sex'. Some have noted that the Scotland Committee recommended the Board not to do it.

The Wales Committee did as well tinyurl.com/az42z3ym 2/ The minutes note (3.2) FOUR optional responses in play. Members then voice 'serious concerns that the proposed change to the definition of sex in the [EA2020] would result in the diminution of the rights of trans people with a Gender Recognition Certificate' (3.7)

1/15 Thread: Victor Madrigal-Borloz, UN Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, has recently visited the UK to assess the state of LGBTQ+ rights. His interim report is here: ohchr.org/sites/default/… 2/15 It is worth reading in full. He deals with a number of serious issues, including the toxic hatred/disinformation directed at UK trans people. However, for us, the most astonishing words are these, in which he crucifies the @EHRC. We quote these from para 21 at length here:

For those who cannot access screengrabs/images of text - here's a long-form thread version of an unpublished letter to @guardian from a TLP supporter (not ourselves) that they shared with us. The Guardian didn't publish it. It's good. 'Jacqui Lewis’s letter on the Equality Act 2010 (“Reframing the need for single-sex spaces under the Equality Act”, 13 April) was nonsensical in numerous ways, but the standout passage was her reading of the provision that single-sex spaces are lawful if they are

1/4 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northe… Are you a cisgender woman who supports trans people's rights? Research tells us that most cis women do. Yet poisonous, toxic stunts like this by this person are being framed by the BBC and the British media as being in YOUR name... 2/4 Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull ("Posie Parker") is a far-right, anti-trans, anti-Gillick, Islamophobic, Tucker Carlson fan who once invaded the office of a trans human rights worker to harass her & whose recent rally in Melbourne included neo-Nazis doing Nazi salutes in support...

1/11 It seems that @soniasodha is unhappy about our analysis of her piece on the recent @EHRC advice, (though she seems to like our graphics). In it, she suggested that a ‘consensus’ has been reached about ‘women-only spaces’, referring to Tory, Labour & EHRC positions... 2/11 Oddly, she didn’t mention the position of the UK trans community, a group that you’d think might have a role in this ‘conversation’? It has been filled with horror at recent events and is very frightened. If you're part of this community, as we are, this is 100% clear...

1/6 We had to put our work on hold due to a bereavement some months ago. But we've remained aware of the unraveling situation in the UK. Today, after a few days of grotesque decisions by sports bodies comes the most blatant piece of anti-trans prejudice ever issued by @EHRC 2/6 At first glance, the legal impact of their recommendations would directly affect trans people with GRCs and/or who are post-op. For EA 2010 purposes, their GRCs would become worthless and they'd be in the same legal position as the other 250-500k trans people without one.

1/11 BRITISH TRIATHLON: THREAD: Despite the noise from a certain employment tribunal, the most important news of the day is alas the dreadful move by the British Triathlon Federation @BritTri to reclassify all trans women at all levels of their sport effectively...as men. 2/11 Their statement today britishtriathlon.org/news/statement… says that ALL trans women irrespective of when they transitioned, age, physical/surgical status, hormones, body mass etc must now compete in an Open category. In other words with the men.

1/12 There's been plenty written already about attempts by the @EHRC & @EHRCChair to drive trans people out of British society. Apart from being cruel, vicious & entirely unworkable, their stance on single sex spaces is also completely incoherent. 2/12 Here's our blog explaining why translegalproject.org/post/the-ehrc-…

1/. The Girls' Day School Trust @GDST has updated its policies to refuse applications from trans girls - on the basis this would (they say) jeopardise their schools' status as 'single-sex' under the EA 2010. 2/. According to the press, the guidance was drawn up "in collaboration with experts, teachers and students". We have seen no evidence that the @GDST has got any lawyers involved in this decision - a potentially rash approach.

1/13 An attempt to destroy trans people's rights with legislation (specifically attacking those WITH a Gender Recognition Certificate) is on the way... 2/13 An amendment to a police, crime, sentencing & courts bill is due to be tabled in the House of Lords tomorrow by a Conservative Peer with support from a DUP colleague.

1/11 Today's putrid, anti-trans dogwhistle piece on the front of the Telegraph is grim even by their standards. 2/11 Not only the well-worn conflation of trans people with sex offenders, (so beloved of the British media to smear an entire community) but their take on the law is rubbish.
