Converts/Reverts to Islam often get celebrated. Becoming a Muslim doesn't immediately remove one's biases or mean they've done work to decolonize/deconstruct their own internalized Islamophobia, racisms, or views influenced by Western culture, media or systems ex patriarchy.

🧵 My 19yo cousin was injured this week & has had multiple seizures and a brain bleed- his doctors disagreed on whether to discharge or not, but they sent him home. If we continue to put strain on health-care... families will pay the price. The cost isn't in $'s. It's people.

Just in my immediate family alone- we'd be at-risk or destitute under privatized healthcare. The idea of blood tests or service fees is terrifying- but costs are slowly being pushed further onto individuals.

Albert Nobbs bragged about a restraining order he filed against Haruun, one filed incorrectly and full of inconsistencies, exaggerations and falsehoods. It was thrown out today- it had no merit, it was just another attempt to harm Haruun's reputation.
This isn't about Haruun. This is about Albert and the AAC attempting to silence critique primarily coming from Black & Indigenous persons, women, and racialized folks. This was wrong from the beginning and could have ended with accountability in February. Instead it escalated.
