A thread on swearing:
I don't understand why some Catholics who identify as "traditionalists" publicly use really profane language ("f-bombs" or repeated mid-tier profanity) when Col 3:8 says "put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth." 1/6
I'm not proof-texting an absolute rule, but profanity should be rare to make your point. I have no regrets telling Destiny in our debate that I'd tell someone who rejects rational arguments and boldly asserts disabled children can be left to die that they can "kiss my ass." 2/6

And now a thread on what St. Francis of Assisi did and did not say:
1. “Preach the gospel always; if necessary, use words.”
Earliest mention I've found of this quote comes from some works in the 1990's. Even most biographers of St. Francis admit it is apocryphal. 1/7
St. Francis was actually great at preaching with words and once gave this advice: "The preacher must first draw from secret prayers what he will later pour out in holy sermons; he must first grow hot within before he speaks words that are in themselves cold.” 2/7
