THREAD❤️
1/8. I am making this thread with a deep sense of love for my brother in Christ, Nelson Chamisa. The same kind of love and frankness that characterized the meeting he requested in my office a while back. What people very close to Nelson say to me concerns me .. 2/8. These people say they have given up on Nelson but can’t tell him. That he is not a leader. That he is not a democrat. Some of these people have suggested exploring a Third Way, which I have since given up on, although Robert Chapman’s effort could be just that.

1. We are a polarized , angry and hurting nation. The tension in our society is palpable. Over the past few weeks during my morning prayer/meditation I have been drawn to pray that all leaders in our society be driven by one thing namely - what will improve the lives of people 2. Thus , I have found myself praying in particular that President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Nelson Chamisa and all leaders in society be focused , not on their personal ambitions to get power or retain power , but be seized by the desire/passion to do right for all Zimbabweans.

Dear Zimbabwe 🇿🇼
1. Informed and objective consensus is that we are headed in the right direction. The pain of “austerity for posterity” is real. Price volatility, erosion of disposable incomes , rotten infrastructure and power cuts are all hurting. Social destitution is acute 2. Change is never painless particularly undoing decades of misguided policies. And we have just started so patience and courage are called for. Any political leader promising painless change is being dishonest especially given our desperate circumstances.

1. My #AmazingZimbabwean for April is Philip Mataranyika who established Nyaradzo Funeral Assurance Company 18 years ago. A humble, kind and easy going man Philip has built an amazing brand synonymous with quality service. 👇🏿 2. Philip worked for Old Mutual for 15 years gaining experience and insights that have helped him and his colleagues build Nyaradzo into a household brand. Currently Nyaradzo employs 1 500 people with 42 service centers across Zimbabwe. #AmazingZimbabwean

1. I am inspired by Zimbabweans who excel against all odds. 2015 Brian Mawoyo @brinka1972 was retrenched by Econet after working there for 8 years, rising to senior manager. Unemployed and with a family to care for he immediately ventured into horticulture #AmazingZimbabweans👇🏿 2. Today he owns Spinyard Seedlings one of Zimbabwe’s largest producers of seedlings. Employs 32 people at 2 sites with capacity for 15 million seedlings. Client portfolio is over 2000 customers including NGO’s. He is exploring expansion into SADC. #AmazingZimbabweans

CELEBRATING EACH OTHER🇿🇼

1. As 2018 draws to a close I want to celebrate #AmazingZimbabweans who gave me courage/hope amidst the pervasive gloom/doom around us. People who spoke up/fought for their convictions. Folks whose can do attitude saw them triumph against all odds. 2. Thank you @begottensun for having the courage to launch your @FreshInABox at a time when many thought it was well-nigh impossible to do business in Zimbabwe. Proud of you. #AmazingZimbabweans

A. I have been working the phone over the past 90 minutes. This is what I can share
1. Intelligence/police ruling out MDC as a source of Bulawayo explosion. MDC clearly don’t have capacity.
2. Militant activists in Bulawayo have been questioned and ruled out B. Second suspicion is Robert Mugabe sympathizers. Did they do this. Do the G40 elements ie @ProfJNMoyo who have threatened civil war have capacity. Perhaps.
