JUDGMENT: SIU and Transnet SOC Ltd v Zakhele Ezekiel Thabo Lebelo and Others (GP06/2022)

Former Transnet Group Executive for Properties' R1, 8 million retirement benefits have been interdicted and a Curator Bonis is appointed to manage his several Rosebank properties. In judgment delivered on Monday afternoon, the Special Tribunal found that Lebelo and Phathutshedzo Brighton Mashamba connived for the disgorgement of secret profits they earned from Superfecta Trading 209 CC - a supplier to Transnet Properties and BBDM Bros Advertising Agency.

JUDGMENT: Special Tribunal orders Hamilton Ndlovu and his companies to pay R158 million, forfeit assets and be blacklisted from doing business with the State

The Special Tribunal has reviewed and set aside the R172 million PPE contracts awarded to Hamilton Ndlovu. On Tuesday, the Special Tribunal granted an order which declared as unconstitutional, invalid, irregular and ordered the contracts awarded to Ndlovu, fronting with his companies: Bugatti Security Services and Projects (Pty) Ltd, Hamilton Holdings (Pty) Ltd, Mok Plus One (Pty)

The Special Tribunal will, virtually, hear the review application in the above-mentioned matter on Thursday, 10 March 2022. The application seeks to review and set aside the R172 million awarded by the National Health Laboratory Services in contracts in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Charlton's preservation order discharged and set aside

The SIU has been ordered to pay the costs on attorney-client scale following the discharge and setting aside of the order that sought to preserve R510 04. 00 of the pension funds of Clive Charlton The Special Tribunal had earlier granted the order on 22 February 2022 to interdict the pension benefits of Clive Charlton, the retired employee of the Department of Public Works in KwaZulu-Natal.

Judgment: Third Party notice application in the matter between Mantsu Kabelo Lehloenya and Gauteng Premier, Manemolla David Makhura and Others (GP/11/2020)

The Special Tribunal will deliver judgment in the above-mentioned matter tomorrow (Monday) at 10H00. On the 19th August 2021 the Special Tribunal heard three interlocutory applications, namely, exception, application to strike out and a special plea.
This followed the third party notice application brought against the Premier by Ms Lehloenya, former CFO of the Department

The R155 million trial of Mr Minenhle Makhanya gets underway in the Pietermaritzburg High Court before Judge Kantharuby Pillay.
Mr Makhanya is representing himself.

FORMER STATE ATTORNEY OFFICIAL, NOZIPHO ZIBANE, AND SISTER ON R4, 5 MILLION FRAUD TRIAL The R4, 5 million fraud trial of the former Johannesburg based State Attorney official and her sister got underway at the Special Tribunal on Monday morning.
Zibane, a qualified attorney who was employed in the Department of Justice and Correctional Services, is on trial

The trial in the matter between the SIU and Nozipho Zibani and Others will begin shortly before the Special Tribunal. The SIU seeks to recover an amount of R4 million from the respondents, who were employed by the Office of the State Attorney Adv David Mtshweni appears for the SIU.
Judge Lebogang Modiba will preside on the trial which is starting shortly.
