Hi. I'd like to talk to those of you considering playing Lost Judgment with the English dub. If you are playing in JP audio, this thread won't apply to you, you are already experiencing the game as close to the creators as we can make it without teaching you Japanese.
Are we alone, EN dub peeps? All 10 of you on Twitter? (lol) Great. I want to discuss the lip sync I've gotten questions about since the debut trailer - you've probably noticed it's not as silky as Like a Dragon's was, and it won't be - Why? The short answer is "sim ship."

I've seen some (valid) criticism of the lack of any real "Kansai" dialect in the Like a Dragon dub - So naturally, here's a *very* lengthy thread on the topic of accents in dubs, and how ours ended up as all over the place as it did. This one's a beast.
"Localization team doesn't know what the hell to do with Kansai accent" is a problem as old as time, and when recording in EN, the easiest fix is usually "IDK, southern?" But this colorful cast of Scottish, Boston/Brooklyn, and Welsh? All Kansai in their original Japanese audio:

Was talking to some folks last weekend who were genuinely curious about why they see "the Yakuza font" in so many places, which led to the question "Why does Yakuza use that font in the first place?"
I promised the long answer this week, and by the skin of my teeth... A thread.
For starters, no sense hiding it, the font is called Edo SZ and it's uh, really easily acquired. You didn't start to see it in the game until I took over as loc producer for the series in Yakuza 0, but its Yakuza history goes back way further - this is the original Y3 trailer!
