When I covered the religious right talking about blocking the Respect for marriage Act, they said that they wanted it banned because it could lead to asexual marriages. Each one of the 83 groups said that every couple is obligated to have sex, even if they are asexual. The religious right groups said that asexual marriages will lead to a "marriage inferno" that "destroys the purpose of marriage". They attacked things like bodily autonomy and consent, by calling them rooted in selfishness.

Another attack on schools, brought to you by Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA!

Forty-five-year-old Randall Graham was arrested for threatening California's Conejo Valley Unified school district superintendent Mark McLaughlin, leaving death threats on his voicemail. A voicemail Graham allegedly left for McLaughlin says, “Hey, hey, Mark, congratulations. You officially have a hit on you. You’ve been marked. I would not get caught walking in public. I wouldn’t get caught going to work.”

You can't make this crap up!

Republican parents in Grant, Michigan stormed a school board meeting over an anti-bullying student mural, because they felt it was "satanic" for showing rainbows and a peace sign.

What the hell?

Read this 🧵 The mural shows kids and animals wearing red cross hats.

The kids have diverse skin colors and one is wearing a hijab.

One girl in the mural is wearing rainbow colors.

Another student is wearing a transgender flag shirt while getting a shot from a bunny nurse.

So scary!

This year, Christian nationalist groups this year made an attack on asexual marriages, calling them affronts to God. I have an entire thread about groups like Alliance Defending Freedom literally stating that. Christian nationalists are signaling future oppressions! Take heed! Image Christian nationalists hate asexual people because we don't experience sexual attraction and wish to have sex, therefore no kids. They see us as an affront to their to their marriage mandates and quiverfull movement. They hate us living our truth and living in freedom.

I've got a medical cautionary tale I've got to share with you. Read this! 🧵

(True Story) Last year, I went into to have hernia surgery. What I didn't know was that I actually didn't have just one surgery, but that I had three hernias in my stomach. A routine 30 minute surgery turned into a 3 hour surgery because of it. Doctors said my condition was life-threatening.

Here's some stupid news for you:

A former high-school assistant principal in Colorado is suing his former school because he didn't like the school doing a production of the Laramie Project, the play about Matthew Shepard's death.

He felt the play made Christians look bad.🙄 🧵 Corey McNellis claims he was terminated from Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado in October 2020 because of his “Christian beliefs".

McNellis claims he was worried about “how the Christian religion comes across in the play,” said McNellis’ attorney Spencer Kontnik.🧵

A groundbreaking new study on asexuality from Dr. Anthony Bogaert & @DrLoriBrotto came out two weeks ago, and it is a game changer. The results were published in psychology today. I'll link the @PsychToday and the actual article below. 🧵

I grew up in Bible Belt Oklahoma, where we didn't even have a sex-education class. No one even mentioned asexuality as something that exists. Not knowing my orientation drove me to great anxiety, where I felt like a misfit at school. My story is not uncommon for LGBTQIA+ kids. 🧵 The GLSEN Research Institute found that when LGBTQ students do not see their identities, experiences, and communities reflected in school curricula, they are less likely to feel comfortable speaking with their teachers about LGBTQ issues, less likely to feel safe at school, and

Michigan Senate Majority Leader wanted to make a change to Michigan's resolution celebrating Pride Month.

Why? Because the resolution dared to mention the facts about Reagan's woeful response to the AIDS epidemic and didn't include God in it.

Talk about feelings over facts! The Resolution was crafted by state Senator Jeremy Moss, who is the only out member in the Michigan chamber.

Shirkey wanted to change a portion to say simply, "The LGBTQ community has endured through tragedy and struggle," deleting the references to AIDS and LGBTQ rights.

Pro Tip for writers: if you are going to write an article about asexuality, please learn what asexuality is beforehand. Asexuality ≠ celibacy. Asexuality ≠ virginity. I personally have never had sex, but that doesn't make me asexual. My lack of attraction does. There are aces of all different varieties. Some are sex-repulsed (like me), some are sex-indifferent, and others are sex-favorable. Asexuality is a multifaceted orientation. We're far from monolithic.

TW: Acephobia

An account publicly commented how they delight in asexual people being put in concentration camps and wished more aces would be put in camps to be tortured.

And yet this was not ruled a violation of @Twitter terms of service. Interesting. Image So, an account can openly state that they want asexual people to be subjected to torture, and it's okay, @Twitter?

I don't want anyone telling me asexual people don't face discrimination and hate ever again!

In a week of a mass shooting that has gripped the nation, Oklahoma Republicans choose to be cruel for the sake of cruelty by banning trans students from using the bathroom. Republicans would rather terrorize innocent trans people than actually confront issues affecting kids. There is no evidence of any trans panic whatsoever. The GOP is only advancing this bill because they are transphobic bigots. Republicans are making it plain as day that they would rather a trans person be dead than alive and well. This sort of evil needs to be removed from power.

Evangelicals hate LGBTQ+ people because LGBTQ+ people expose the flaws in their bad religion and make them question their faith. Evangelicals at birth try to pull the wool over everyone's eyes, saying that this group is evil and this group is wicked.

Illuminati,
Dungeons & Dragons,
Psychology,

you name it.

Evangelicals try to make everyone who's LGBTQ+ as miserable & wicked sinners.

According to a Morning Consult Poll, 40% of Republicans think a teacher can an influence students’ sexuality and gender identity, and 31% of Republican parents don't want LGBTQ+ people working with their children.

This is a sign the Lavender Scare is back in America! Don't laugh off those statistics as just Republicans are dumb. This is not that.

Rather, this is sinister, with deadly consequences.

My post @lgbtqnation about Christian teacher in Kansas now allowed to out trans kids to their parents mentioned the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian nationalist hate group.

There is quite a bit you need to know about the Alliance Defending Freedom that my post left out. Image My post mentions the Nation calling ADF a “Christian legal army”, with connections to Republicans like Josh Hawley and Amy Comey Barrett.

A woman in Texas received 30 years in prison for allowing her 13 year-old daughter to marry a 47 year-old man, claiming the marriage was part of their "Religious Beliefs". WTH?!

And yet people say LGBTQIA+ people are "groomers"? GTFOH! It's important to note that 44 states have not banned child marriage, with nearly 300,000 children as young as 10 were married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2018.

We have a problem, America.

In light of Alabama banning gender-affirming care that would criminalize doctors for up to 10 years in prison, I felt it was necessary to say this: Republicans want trans kids to die and disappear.

Gender-affirming care is life-saving. Studies confirm this!

Read this! Studies show that children know their gender by age 3-4, by Piaget child development analysis. So, children can know their gender identity at a very young age. It's not something of a chameleon notion. Gender begin to know what their gender formation is at a very young age.

In the midst of Deathsantis signing the Don't Say Gay bill in Florida, I thought it would be best that I provide my own individual story about how not having any sex-education in school affected me as an asexual kid.

Please take the time to read this. A while ago, I wrote was for @lgbtqnation titled "I am asexual. My story is exactly why LGBTQ+ inclusive sex-education matters".

I wrote this because I know how harmful it is firsthand to not have sex-education in school that features your orientation or identity.

Do you ever wonder what groups are behind the anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ bills as a whole across the world, preventing LGBTQ+ people from accessing affordable housing, adoption agencies, & access to education?

Read this thread! There's a great article detailing the most sinister part about these bills, in that they are being written by a few white Christian nationalist groups, such as:
1. Alliance Defending Freedom
2. American Family Association
3. American Principles Project
4. Heritage Foundation
