Enough people are asking that I thought I'd explain in one thread my take on the recent EDGES paper on a possible detection of the global 21cm signal. nature.com/articles/doi:1…. The cost of our scientific computing equipment has doubled because they are using GPUs to mine bitcoins. BTW, by "bitcoin" I mean cryptocurrency generically. As @ihrachyshka points out, it's probably Ethereum.
