Statement on Claims of Food Shortages aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Tripoli:
Recent reports alleging food shortages and poor quality aboard our deployed ships are false. Both USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Tripoli have sufficient food onboard to serve their crews with healthy options. The health and wellbeing of our Sailors and Marines are my top priority, and every crew member continues to receive fully portioned, nutritionally balanced meals.

Today’s policy change eliminates an unnecessary barrier to service and ensures we are able to carry out our mission with the best-qualified and most-capable Sailors regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation,
gender, race, or creed. 1/4 Simply put, all Sailors and applicants for accession to the Navy must be treated with dignity and respect. This policy change is the right thing to do and is another step in ensuring that we continue to recruit and retain the best and most qualified people. 2/4
