A year later, Muwanga and Okello were part of a group that deposed Obote in a coup in July 1985./1
After the fall of the Obote II government , Hon. Peter Otai formed the Uganda Peoples Army (UPA) in 1987 to oppose the new NRA government until a peace settlement was reached in 1992. He passed on in the UK where he lived for many years in Jan 2020./2

Born in Rukungiri district, Kashillingi completed his A-level's at @ABASINIYA_KCB in 1967 and travelled to Mbarara hoping to join the @UgandaPrisons. But destiny dealt him a different hand, an extraordinary one at that. /1
Denied entry into @UgandaPrisons because of his height, Kashillingi was lodging with a relative when he heard of an Army recruitment drive ongoing in the town. Kashillingi rushed into town only to find that the process had already ended but that didn't stop him this time./2

Today marks exactly 23 years since the passing of Gen. Chefe Ali aka Eriya Mwine, former Chief of Staff UPDF (1996-1998).
It was Chefe Ali who recruited his schoolmate, Emmanuel Gisa, the man many would come to know as Fred Rwigyema./1
Together with 26 others, they secretly left Uganda in 1976 to undergo military training in Tanzania & Mozambique under the guidance of @FRELIMONLINE.
3 years later, the group aka FRONASA marched into Kampala as part of the allied liberation force that deposed Idi Amin Dada./2

Born in 1940 in Loro, Northern Uganda, Ojok joined the Uganda Rifles (UR) in 1963. He then trained in the U.K at the Mons Officer Cadet School & later on at the Staff College Camberley. Between 1963-71, he served in various junior roles rising to the rank of Major./2
