Wow Based on a plain reading of the charter & the understanding council was left w/ last yr by CA, upon felony conviction this office is vacant.

The council could still reappoint someone to CD 10 but at this moment they presumably have no representative.

Bubbling up to the surface in the final week of the CD 6 primary we have a new PAC, "Clean Water Clean Government to Support Marisa Alcaraz for City Council 2023."

Can anyone point to *anything* Marisa or her boss have done to support "clean government?" Image Is this the Price/Alcaraz vision for "Clean Government?"

CM Rodriguez continues to blindly block and tackle for Kevin de Leon.

Very disappointing to see an elected official justify a colleague violently tackling a constituent to the floor. We’ve suddenly been launched back 2 decades in time.

Elected officials referring to protest as terrorism. 🫠

Longer video of the “fight” below, which shows this wasn’t a fight, just KDL losing his shit.

Very cool how the council president issued a statement last night defending KDL and blaming Jason. Note what preceded KDL's attack. His supporter in the hat threw their body weight into Jason and tried to shove him out of the way. This was followed by KDL also throwing his body weight into Jason by that doorway. Then KDL appears to connect with him again (view blocked)...

"Lastly, to the disruptors and protesters...in their own words, I yield the rest of my time and fuck you."

-Paul Koretz It's amusing to think about how far we've come as a city.

For ex: 10 years ago a single utterance of the word fuck resulted in the councilmembers losing their minds. CM Englander was so outraged he asked for the feed to channel 35 to be turned off to protect the children.

🚨🚨🚨 KDL just walked out onto the council floor and they immediately went into a recess.

His staff clearly had a plan as KDL's supporters in chambers immediately erupted w/ chants of his name. Their chants couldn’t be heard on the live feed but those dialed in to give public comment could hear audio for about a minute longer than those watching the video.

Here's the youtube link: Kevin thinks Nury made the right decision in resigning. He says she led the meeting, and "I have a history, a 20 plus year history of shared struggle...I made some flippant remarks."

Tavis then tears into him for using the word "flippant."

Nury Martinez gets a phone call and towards the end of this clip you can hear her say “I’m at the fed.” 👀 As to when this convo occurred, we know it happened after MRT was indicted (Oct 13) but before he was suspended (Oct 20th). Final vote on the redistricting commission map was Oct 21 w/ a vote on report Oct 28.

.@CD6Nury giving @kdeleon props for never criticizing Huizar when he was on the campaign trail.

She ponders whether Huizar, making, $200k+ a year, was simply taking bribes to help feed his kids. Keep in mind some of that bribe $ was to cover settlement re: sexual harassment. Here as they discuss MRT Nury talks about her good friend (mentioned earlier) who used to be the head of a relevant department in DOJ investigating public corruption…

Who do you think originally recorded the tapes? FWIW some of these convos appear to only involve LA Fed staff, which would probably rule out Cedillo…

Here’s LAPD Officer Toni McBride, daughter of the LA Police Protective League director Jamie McBride, unloading a couple high capacity mags as she plugs a micro conversion kit company for handgun owners. Their basic pitch is turn your Glock into an assault rifle.

Our electeds like @PaulKrekorian will drone on endlessly about conversion kits, assault rifles, bump stocks, & high capacity mags as they allow officers to glorify them & pull in sponsorship $.

There are all kinds of agencies, w/o the clear conflict of interest, who could carry out this type of investigation: LA DA, CA DOJ, & the FBI.

The sheriff's claims have been sitting around for a year.

If he had *anything,* why didn't any of those other agencies bite at this? The non-profit industrial complex in LA City/County is real as can be & there are definitely aspects to the POV contract that appear wasteful. Ally getting a no-bid k never looks good but the sheriff is talking about bribery, something VERY hard to prove.

ZERO mention of the way council has choked out public comment (eliminating 1/3 of charter required meetings over a 2 yr period, cutting public comment down to 30 minutes, and ending remote public comment), but that's the kind of coverage we can expect from the LA Times. If @markzbarabak had any familiarity with LA City Council, he'd know that the recent changes to the Brown Act are in no way driven by LA City Council politics, our reps themselves would scoff at that idea since we *already* practice everything provided by the changes.

Listen to CM Blumenfield’s Deputy Chief of Staff tell the Woodland Hills NC about a map they passed along. He claims there’s a rumor it came out of @CD6Nury’s office.

Sounds like the same map Comm. Torres tried to push on the 16th, which led to Chair Ali questioning its origin. Blumenfield’s Legislative Director adds his thoughts on the map, which sounds like the map @CD6Nury’s appointee Rachel Torres tried to push.

Deputy COS notes it puts the Van Nuys airport and Sepulveda Basin back in CD6.

The NC hates it, “this is even stupider than the K2.”

Map L goes down without even getting the respect of a clear and transparent up or down vote.

Polanco swooped in before item could get a vote and was able to successfully table the motion. A bunch of commissioners were confused as to what they were even voting to do. There are no consolation prizes here but this is nothing to be dissuaded by. This map is far from final & the commission merely makes a recommendation at the end of Oct.

They've kinda poked the bear & if the organizing/effort of the last few days 1/2

🧵 of the highlights & lowlights... Chair Ali is addressing the LA Times article. He's now assigning numbers to districts.

More on that article and Fred's dishonest statements.

.@LACCRC2021 Chair Ali makes a few claims in this article that are simply lies & directly contradicted by the public record.

Line drawing protocols were tossed out the window, & Chair Ali *led* a discussion re: the interests of incumbents.

Gathering receipts, 🧵incoming soon @LACCRC2021 Chair Ali claims "line-drawing decisions are being made not behind closed doors but in public."

The commission did indeed agree to this, but they've subsequently abandoned multiple aspects of these line drawing protocols.
