Rubio tweeted this on the second day of Trumpā€™s impeachment trial.

McConnell wasnā€™t the only Republican Senator to indicate support for prosecuting Trump. Rubioā€™s statement on Trumpā€™s acquittal following ā€œthe criminal attack of January 6thā€: ā€œlet history, and if necessary the courts, judge the events of the past.ā€

Rich Lowry: ā€œWashington power centersā€ and the US military will prevent Trump from becoming a dictator "Iā€™m not saying [the Trump-as-Dictator] scenario is impossible, just that it requires every Republican in the legislative branch to accept a role akin to obedient eunuchs." šŸ¤”

A couple of thoughts on this from the WSJ editorial board.

1. Institutions are just people. When you say "institutions are strong enough" you're saying that people will stop Trump. Who, exactly? GOP senators wouldn't convict after a literal coup attempt! wsj.com/articles/gop-dā€¦
Image 2. When you're trying to persuade open-minded conservative voters to avoid nominating Trump, you undermine your case when you say Trump can be contained. You're telling them "don't worry, it's not that risky, and if you don't stop him, someone else will."

Giuliani testifies about ā€œthe efforts you have to make to try to keep people from Camden, New Jersey, from coming into Philadelphia to voteā€

Resign @RepRalphNorman, traitor This might be the worst thing Iā€™ve seen from a congressional Republican related to the 2020 election:

A private message to the White House Chief of Staff calling for a military dictatorship three days before Biden is sworn in.

@SpeakerPelosi needs to take action.

I wonder if National Review will take an editorial stance on imprisoning public health officials or if theyā€™ll do that ā€œyesā€ ā€œnoā€ ā€œmaybeā€ thing It's not just a theoretical question. Ron DeSantis, who NR favors for the GOP nomination, sent a fundraising letter a year ago with the subject "Fauci for Prison."

Idea that Republicans get ā€œzero creditā€ for condemning bigotry and that ā€œthe only winning move is not to playā€ seems provably false.
nationalreview.com/corner/jonathaā€¦ Of the top of my head I can think of George HW Bush rejecting David Duke, McCain defending Obama from a racist rally attendee, and George W Bush condemning anti-Muslim hate after 9/11.

Aside from being the right things to do, they were also good politics.

It's interesting how a conflict between Apple and Twitter's revenue models became a culture war issue. Apple charges a 30% fee on in-app purchases, which it requires for apps when they offer a "digital service" (for instance, a service like Twitter Blue that gives your posts priority). observer.com/2022/10/apple-ā€¦

DeSantis ripped off Paul Harvey's "So God Made a Farmer"--an ode to the humble American laborer--and made it into a narcissistic sizzle reel.

Marco Rubio has been compromised by the Proud Boys and you shouldnā€™t trust a word he says, particularly on this subject Back in 2018, Nancy Pelosi went to Miami and was mobbed by Proud Boys "leading the chairman of the Miami-Dade County Republican Party to issue an apology."

At the time, Rubio compared the Proud Boys to Castro's "repudiation mobs."

Mike Lee dishonestly says he was merely doing research into ā€œrumorsā€ of ā€œalternateā€ (fake) electors when in fact he was plotting with Mark Meadows how state legislatures could overturn Bidenā€™s win two days before the Capitol was violently overrun. Just try and reconcile his January 4th text to Mark Meadows with how he described his role to Utah voters on television. Itā€™s an utter lie.

Why didn't you publish the documents you obtained? Yesterday, the US government moved to unseal the warrant with only the names of the FBI agents redacted.

Meanwhile, the former president's team is leaking the unredacted documents to Breitbart, which is actively highlighting the names of the agents.

It gets harder to say your criticism of George Soros isnā€™t infected by anti-Semitism when your movement is celebrating and rallying behind Viktor Orban. Yes, Orban has attacked Soros time and again in flagrantly anti-Semitic terms.
