Sri Gurubhyo Namah! Sri Vyasa Raya Aradhane – The Sage Who Upheld Dharma & Vijayanagara's Glory

Today, we bow in reverence to Sri Vyasa Raya, the towering saint-scholar who guided two of Vijayanagara’s greatest emperors— Sri Krishna Deva Raya and Sri Achyuta Deva Raya. His wisdom protected the empire, his penance shielded its ruler, and his devotion uplifted generations. When Sri Krishna Deva Raya was endangered by Kuhu Yoga, it was Sri Vyasa Raya's divine intervention that saved him.

1. Today is the aradhane of Sri Vyasa Raya who guided 2 emperors of Vijayanagar - Sri Krishna Deva Raya and Sri Achyuta Deva Raya. Sri Vyasa Raya is credited to have saved Krishna Deva Raya from Kuhu yoga. 2. Sri Vyasa Raya also performed nitya puja to Tirumala Venkateshvara for 12 yrs from the banks of Swami Pushakrini when there was no adult male in the hereditary lineage to perform puja. He handed over puja to hereditary pujari when a boy became old enough to handle it.

458 years ago, on 26th January 1565 CE, Battle of Talikota was lost by the Vijayanagar army under Aliya Rama Raya. We shall look back on the last decades of the great city which was destroyed by barbarians after this defeat Emperor Achyuta Deva Raya died in 1542CE. His son, a minor, became the emperor with his uncle Salakaraju Chinna Tirumala as regent. Regent was not content with his position. He usurped the throne by killing his sister and her son, the emperor.
