1. Today is the aradhane of Sri Vyasa Raya who guided 2 emperors of Vijayanagar - Sri Krishna Deva Raya and Sri Achyuta Deva Raya. Sri Vyasa Raya is credited to have saved Krishna Deva Raya from Kuhu yoga. 2. Sri Vyasa Raya also performed nitya puja to Tirumala Venkateshvara for 12 yrs from the banks of Swami Pushakrini when there was no adult male in the hereditary lineage to perform puja. He handed over puja to hereditary pujari when a boy became old enough to handle it.

Emperor Achyuta Deva Raya died in 1542CE. His son, a minor, became the emperor with his uncle Salakaraju Chinna Tirumala as regent. Regent was not content with his position. He usurped the throne by killing his sister and her son, the emperor.
