Recent political events puts #OrangeShirtDay into perspective for me. While Canada was coddling Nazis over the last 75 years and giving them a great life, it was still destroying Indigenous peoples. This legacy is owed to PM William Lyon Mackenzie King 🧵 nationalpost.com/news/canada/he… PM King was, in many respects, far worse to Indigenous people than Sir JAM. For a guy that was PM for over 20 years between 1921 and late 1948, he oversaw some of the worst excesses of colonial violence, including sharp growth of enrolment in Indian Residential Schools Image

Update on this story from @gleocbc (Aug 2023) on some #pretendian and #RaceShifting funny business that inundated the Algonquin Modern Treaty. There were 2 particular 'root ancestors' claimed by an extensive family network of over 1,000 individuals (1/n)
cbc.ca/news/canada/sa… Back in the summer of 2023, my community, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan, backed away from treaty process because we were flooded by frauds, fakes and #pretendians that dominated the negotiations: we were outnumbered by white settler frauds (2/n)
