Hypothesis: Lots of young adults do not allow themselves to grieve their parent’s divorces. So they start repressing the good memories from their former families so that they can convince themselves their current situation as “at least better than it used to be.”
This might also be why we see an uptick in talking about trauma, a sort of reverence for suffering, and an increased overall sense of isolation.
Lots of people have lost where they used to belong, and I’m not sure we’ve treated that with as much seriousness as we should.
