Good to see our multidisciplinary team work finally published - "Science tells us that portable air filters reduce infections. It's time for public health authorities to make this clear"

sciencedirect.com/science/articl… We share this science here with the expectation that, going forward, public health authorities will position PAFs appropriately in infection prevention and control plans for both health care and community settings in order to more effectively address airborne infectious diseases

I have heard various reasons why BC is not allowing HCWs to wear an N95 (or equivalent) while working at vaccine clinics.

But, I will submit to you that none of the arguments against N95s (or equivalents) are valid. See short thread ... 1/ Let's denote N95 (or equivalent eg. CAN-99, CN-95, KN94) = A

AND

ASTM3 surgical/medical mask = B

I support ⁦@BCNursesUnion⁩ request for appropriate PPE based on a nurses PCRA.

The PCRA does NOT require secondary approval from a supervisor to wear appropriate respiratory PPE if nurses are informed that #COVIDIsAirborne

vancouversun.com/news/local-new… BC chose to proceed with a PCRA instead of having appropriate PPE universally for all HCWs. If the province chose this path, they should apply this consistently. Why are we still stuck with droplet dogma?

BLUE = Infected
RED = Infectious subset
