On #BellLetsTalk, I see stories breaking down the stigma surrounding depression and anxiety.
While this is amazing work, mental health is broader.
In my med school advocacy class I made this point, wanting to destigmatize psychosis. I was told "schizophrenia is scary". 1/
A doctor and a social worker gave me this feedback - people who are very familiar with the spectrum of mental illnesses.
This was at a time a loved one of mine was hospitalized in psychosis - I didn't know what to say.
He was and continues to be loving and kind, not scary. 2/

Listening to a lecture on chronobiology today and my mind is blown!
I learned that sunrise is important to our health. Living on the western end of a time zone can mean 20% higher rates of obesity and heart attacks because you see the sun later, but get up just as early. 1/
Our bodies need blue light from the sun to activate the *intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells* that signal to our suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) that it is morning. The SCN then regulates the rest of our circadian processes. #neurotwitter 2/
