My parents worked hard all their lives. Factory worker and telephone operator. Believed that if they worked hard and saved wisely, they'd have comfortable old ages.

And then they invested money with an unscrupulous builder. My father died in a rented home, helpless to chase him. My mother suffers from schizophrenia and anxiety and has moved two rented homes in her 70s, suffering from debilating anxiety each time.

Builder ignores RERA, has earned money on their life's earnings for 9 years now, no flat, no interest, no refund.

It is a good time to be glad to not be into James Bond. Turns out that James Bond is now gay.

I don't get this trend of fucking around with gender or orientation of well established characters.

Particularly those who are highly romanticized. In many ways I see this trend as suddenly Doctor who is a woman. James Bond is gay, etc to be extremely dehumanizing and appropriative.

Fans have emotional relationships with characters. Appeal is a HUGE part of that. Screw around with gender/orientation and you fuck that up.

Feedback for YouTubers from someone who watches a LOT of YouTube videos.

I am not interested in you. I don't need a map to find subscribe. Think of it as a race to hook me with information before I scroll down to unsubscribe and then close tab. Intros make me scroll. I still don't know how most YouTubers don't seem to have figured this out. Get to your content ASAP. That is the biggest thing you can do to retain me, not random info about yourself, your daily life, asking me to subscribe before I know you are any good, some random jingle, etc

The 'appropriating' someone's voice argument is used so illogically sometimes that it is verging on fallacy.

A person speaking their own perspective is not appropriating anything.

It is an ad hominem attack that also adds false accusation to basically shut someone up. Regardless of the subject. Even if it is a man speaking on women's rights, savarna speaking on caste discrimination against dalits, corporate rich fellow talking of poverty, whatever.

Own perspective is not appropriation.

Brumby update day 6

Ghar wapsi continues. Now with an attempt to help community (his followers) too find a good response to self harm.

Probably gets awkward when they are surprised at his U-turn So it seems from people who do self harm being attention seekers, we have arrived at a place where Brumby is doing his best to find a better response to self harm that doesn't get him spanked.

Not bad for under a week, eh? Practically transforming as we watch.

Unfollow anyway.

Was talking to someone who may be in trouble because of disclosing too much to someone she no longer trusts in Twitter DMs.

General guide. Never ever say anything you wouldn't be happy to announce from a stage.

Hormones are the WORST "proof" of trust followed by ideology. She approached me thinking that I say many bold things, so I would understand why she did what she did.

I say bold things because I am a bold person. My main timeline is actually more 'bold' than any private messages to anyone.

Speaking of which, day 5 of the Brumby project seems to be about ghar wapsi.

Seems he is actually quite sensitive, just opposed to some, puzzling his followers...

Not even a week yet. Not bad.

Screenshots follow. Followers be confused. So now we are against taunting and harassing suicidal people?

So I had not really intended to talk about this since the woman in question didn't have a problem.

My reason for speaking up was more that if you're making a space claiming to respect women, then respect them, not trash talk their opinions even after she disagreed first time. The thing with this not a democracy, my space, my rules thing is that this is exactly what women go through (Which was being discussed just prior). Spaces they live in are usually controlled by men, their opinions are often trashed and their rights can be conditional to approval.

Spent some time thinking about this thread. At the moment, hard to see how what you call the "militant Ambedkarites" can assimmilate anything. Whatever the reason, lack of trust with other castes, emerging strength... hard to say from the outside, but it is a fortress. I had brought this up several years before too. I had called it the dalit extreme right. It was not as vocal as it is today, but this insularity, perceived by the most vocal among them as strength also serves to isolate and disempower.

But firstly, this much outraged tweet has multiple inaccuracies.

1. Alleged victim was not the complainant. IO was.

2. I stopped counting after 150 non-victim testimony pages, but the claim is false.

3. If idle enough, may find actual number or comment if anyone else does. For a general gist:

First 43 pages just describes case and lists accusation, etc cases referenced, blah blah.

+ abundant cases referenced all through.

Dozens describing defense evidence.

Second-last 22 pages are devoted to spanking the IO (+other places)

Finally order

Portraying yourself as a random celebrity stalked out of the blue (not true) STILL doesn't make her self harm a threat to you. You like presenting it as a threat to get away with bullying.

At other times taunting what could she do about you, so clearly you see no threat. Whataboutery is the ploy of those without legit arguments.

Do you have any examples of men engaging in self harm being called creeps by women?

Someone is depressed because of your behaviour, but harasses you by doing it and therefore you are the victim?

You want to talk about how women discredit women? Let's discuss how feminists are treating a woman judge who gave a judgment that they are trashing like it means nothing and the opposite is true and continue to refer to the accuser as the victim and acquitted accused as rapist. I mean, this is "feminists" with no authority or competence over a judge trashing her for not acting like they expected her to. Note that this is not about merely disagreeing or filing an appeal and so on, but actually insults leveled at her and completely ignoring any competence

Five path-breaking principles on criminal jurisprudence that emerge from the Goa Sessions Court's Tarun Tejpal judgment barandbench.com/columns/litiga… Truly hideous advice from @barandbench

My suggestions:
- GO TO POLICE ASAP 1/n @barandbench - Give as accurate a statement as possible. Avoid anything that is not true, particularly if not directly relevant to events. Rapist will NEED those inconsistencies for defense. Don't make it easy.
- Medical test, evidence. There may be no injuries, but forensics may find.

Again being called a misogynist who wouldn't help a victim of sexual assault.

Is it HELP to call for the arrest of a rape accused in what is guaranteed to be a high profile case, WITHOUT KNOWING what kind of a case the victim (who was a journalist covering VAW did not file) has? The victim had won in media courts. It was her messiahs riding morah high horses that started clamoring for his arrest.

Now they are after the judge who gave judgment.

What next? High Court? Supreme Court?

Been interested in the #TarunTejpal case from the start. Interesting to see that news and social media continues to treat him as the rapist and his accuser as the victim regardless of the judgment.

They also claim that HE is the influential one.

How does that compute? The coverage of the judgment never fails to mention what the judge said about the accuser's behaviour and also never fails to exclude the context - inconsistencies and contradictions in her statements all through the case, including for trivial things like knowing the rape law.

BJP atrocities in Lakshadweep

New space. Previous one crashed.

twitter.com/i/spaces/1rmGP… Praful Khoda Patel making problematic changes in Lakshadweep without consultation with locals, no SOP, absurd limitations on who can contest elections, damaging to fishing (major economic activity), increased pandemic risks.

Do yourself a favor, before insulting a judge because you don't like the judgment, read the judgment. News articles are literally baiting feminists with trigger words. There's over 500 pages explaining reasoning. THEN disagree if you will. "There are material contradictions and ommissions and inconsistent statements in the deposition of the victim brought on record in cross-examination of PW1 which make her testimony of not sterling quality to base the conviction only on her testimony."
May 26, 2021 4 tweets 2 min read
I am truly amazed that news reports on the #TarunTejpal verdict are making no mention whatsoever of detailed mentions of various statements by victim that did not match evidence or were plain absurd and are only quoting provocative conclusions known to trigger feminists. Many people are citing that victim's testimony should be believed, but does that mean believed in spite of contradictory evidence?

It is almost like media wants to provoke a bawal counting on outragers not reading.

For what it is worth, I don't think the judgment was wrong or biased or misogynist or any of the terms being thrown around carelessly. It is not the judge's fault if the prosecution can't make the case. She has provided her reasoning. Insulting her achieves nothing. This case never fails to give me a puky feeling about patronizing feminism that basically be like "poor woman. don't expect proofs, she's so weak, but her word is truth"

The victim had done just fine a job demolishing him publicly. She wasn't the one who filed the case.

"So you are sexist. Would you like people making sexist comments about you?"

People already make sexist comments about me. As long as they don't interfere in what I want to do, it doesn't bother me what people think or say. I can legit laugh at a sexist joke about myself Heck, I can crack sexist jokes about myself.

I think what men think or say bothers women who care what they think more. I'm cool with a good joke if it is funny. Most sexist stuff is lame. THAT is a bigger problem if you're a man who likes that stuff. Makes you look lame..

To be honest, I do make sexist comments about men in some situations.

In Mayawati's place, I'd be like totally devastated that a lout who stands on stage dissing women to sound clever did not find me attractive. @RandeepHooda should hold extensive lectures on what he thinks. @RandeepHooda Thinking of starting a registry of which men would not have sex with which women and um... which of those women were actually hoping for it.

Because otherwise it is just like saying "I do't want to go to space" while not qualifying to be an astronaught.
