Ben Stokes tried to shake hands when 2 batters were nearing their hundreds and they refused. It reminded me of one thing.

77 years ago, something worse happened. One man was batting on 443* and nearing a world record but after tea, the opposition didn't return.

Thread 1/n👇 Image His name was BB Nimbalkar. Still the only Indian to score 400+ in First Class cricket. He scored 443* in 1948 untouchable. That record stands even today. But it could have been more. So much more. He was just 10 short of Bradman record when the game was stopped.

Ashwin, the batter often goes unnoticed but his contributions have been crucial. He scored 4 centuries while batting at number 8. Time and again, when the team seemed on the brink of collapse he stood tall at the crease. Let's talk about his batting exploits in this Thread.

He showed everyone that he could not only turn the ball but also turn the game with the bat in India's favour.

1/nImage Ashwin's Test career began on a quiet note, with a duck in his very 1st innings, but it didn't take long for the cricket world to recognize his batting skills. In his 3rd Test, When India found themselves in a precarious position, just on the verge of follow on, it was Ashwin who stepped up, joined with young Virat Kohli at the crease. Together they fought back and formed a crucial partnership that turned the tide, he smashed a century.

Left-handers and their knack for aesthetically pleasing shots are a match made in heaven. Imagine if a left-handed batter scores more than 28,000 runs in international cricket, it would be a treat for every cricket fan whenever that player steps onto the field with bat in hand. This thread is about one such player Kumar Sangakkara.

(Thread 1/n)Image Sangakkara played Test Cricket for 16 years,  only three of those 16 years his average in the calendar year was less than 40. What's truly incredible is that in 10 calendar years, his average was above 50. Even in the twilight of his career he remained incredibly consistent.

Fast bowling in cricket is incredibly challenging, it requires peak fitness and this week will be Last Dance for James Anderson. His career is nothing short of amazing.

For many cricketers playing 100 Test matches for their country is a dream, Anderson was the only cricketer to play 100 Test matches in a single country. This thread is about legend Jimmy.

Thread(1/n)Image Before he became an England superstar, this Lancashire lad started his first class journey in 2002. Among players who took more than 30 wickets he had the best bowling average in that county season.

He was selected for England in 2003 World Cup squad after just playing 9 ODI matches, this looks like he was fast-tracked. But very few players did, what he did in one of the matches against Australia before the world cup.

Playing 100 Test matches is a significant achievement for a cricketer, but leading his country in over 100 Test matches elevates the accomplishment to a whole new level. I am writing a thread about the only player who achieved that feat.

Graeme Smith

#CricketTwitter Image Scoring double hundreds was a walk in the park for Graeme Smith in the early stages of his career. He scored 3 double hundreds in his first 12 Test matches of his career. His 277 against England in Edgbaston was the best score by a South African batsman at that time.

Whenever we hear George Bailey's name the first thing that often comes to mind is his debut in international cricket as a captain. However those who followed Tasmania cricket particularly around 2008-12 understand that he fully deserved that role.
