It's a somewhat known fact that the soviet tanks had a problem of being very similiar in many regards but using different sizes of bolts, nuts, screws etc. and sometimes needing specialist tools. But rarely is it mentioned how severe the problem was, time for a short thread!

In total the TRM-A-70 mobile repair shop could have 128 tools at its disposal, that included tools and wrenches out of which only 5 tools and 1 wrench were fully unified across all types (of AFVs in the table), while 84 (36 tools, 48 wrenches) were completely non-unified.

With Su-57 in China and more specifically the T-50-4 and T-50-7 in Zhuhai, me a humble tank guy is here to remind "experts" that it was known for years that T-50s were rough, and serial 57s had much better fit and finish. Cuz it seems experts forgot that.
HD pics thread 1/6 2/6 We got an especially good look at how much better the fit and finish is on serial Su-57s during visit of Kim Jong Un at UAC. You can see how smooth Su-57 is compared to Su-35S in the background.

Abrams LVT- Lightweight Variant Tank aka the MPF we deserved instead of the ASCOD based abomination that got adopted. Weighing 35-46 metric tons it’s the same weight as MPF or barely heavier, while being much smaller, better armed and armored.
Time for a small thread. 1/9 2/9 MPF adopted as M10 Booker ended up “gifting” the US Army with a “light tank” that’s weighing over 40 metric tons combat loaded, safely in range of Sov/Rus MBTs weight. But that is not the worst part, due to being ASCOD based, M10 is huge (bigger than M1), and poorly armored.
