Governor Andy Beshear has announced 805 new cases of coronavirus in Kentucky, and 22 additional deaths. 122 of the new cases are among children. We're standing by for the governor's address at 5:30 and will update this thread with some takeaways from his remarks. Beshear says tonight he's giving a speech he didn't expect to make: State of the Pandemic. He says it's a painful address to make. 22 deaths today make it the deadliest day in KY since the pandemic started. here.

Governor Beshear says there will be a wreath hanging ceremony in the Capitol rotunda tomorrow morning at 10, to honor those who have been lost. It will be streamed online. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer just announced LMPD Interim Chief Robert Schroeder will retire on Oct 1. He'll be replaced by Yvette Gentry, who will become the first Black woman to lead LMPD. wfpl.org/lmpd-interim-c… Schroeder became interim chief on June 1 when Fischer fired then-chief Steve Conrad.
