Russian forces have concentrated their best available Brigades to push Ukrainian forces out of the strategic city of Pokrovsk, they are concentrating their main line of assault along 3 main drives and are slowly advancing. Their goal is to completely encircle the city, Ukrainian forces are conducting counter attacks to relive the pressure on the Salient.
Ukrainian forces in recent days have managed to relieve some pressure on the city itself with heroic attacks on the cities flanks although every entry is covered by artillery fires. Russia is slowly gaining territory in the city itself and is advancing on the flanks in other areas. Pokrovsk City Frontline:
Russian forces continue attempts to squeeze defenders out of the central districts of the city itself fighting is intense, flanking assaults are made toward the T0504 road in particular in the area of Rivne and The E50 Junction.
Russian forces are concentrating assault attempts on the outskirts of the city also heavy fighting rages around Kotlyne and Novopavlivka, it is likely Ukrainian forces will begin a slow withdrawal to strongpoints in the northern sectors of the city.

A thread🧵 The Russian Federation a major player on the international stage has been always in some way excluded from the liberal order of the west, for its authoritarian tendencies and its hostile attitude toward Europe and the US. After its numerous wars with neighbours mainly the 2008 invasion of Georgia, decision makers in the Kremlin more namely military officials sort to revolutionise the Russian strategy to war and countering the west, away from its traditionally overt and forward foreign policy stratergy. Key individuals such as General Valery Gerasimov the current head of Russias armed forces, understood that in order for the federation to compete with the west on the world stage it would have to somewhat in his mind mirror the strategy of NATO. General Valery Gerasimov outlined this strategy in full in 2013 in an article he wrote for a state newspaper in Russia, I will now explain the key elements of this foreign policy directive.

The rough road to peace started over the past week, international politics and relations have been shook by hardline American diplomacy and stubborn reactionary responses from Ukraine and Europe.
Here is a summary of what has occurred so far: This who debacle and international crisis this has turned into started on February the 11th where Donald Trump sends his newly appointed Secretary of Defence to Germany under what seems now vague instructions, to pledge the new American position on Europe and Ukraine. Pete Hegseth the former military man and the relatively new statesmen proceeds to make outlandish statements in a press conference about Ukraine and relations with Europe, over the next couple days. Some of these statements included hardline rhetoric on what he saw as the unrealistic “2014 border return of the Ukrainian territories” and a complete refusal of “Ukraine to join NATO” in any peace settlement. He then proceeded to call Europe weak and essentially leeching off the US for defence calling America “Uncle Sucker”, Finally finishing off his several rants with claiming American troops would never to be deployed to Ukraine.

These statements were then backpedaled at a later date by Peter Hegseth himself where he claimed “everything is on the table until Donald Trump takes them off” this sentiment was also reinforced by Trump at a press conference where he infamously said “Maybe” to Ukraine Nato membership, as well as Vance who said everything was on the table at the Munich conference.

Russian forces have made advances south and east of Klishchiivka fighting continues in close vicinity to the town.
Russian forces continue assaults towards the northern part of Opytne where heavy battles continue from two directions.

The situation in Soledar is difficult.
Ukrainian forces conduct defensive actions which cause certain losses to brave defenders while inflicting massive losses on Russian forces.

I won’t comment on the operational situation. Some clarification on the situation in Soledar:
The claims of encirclement of large amounts of Ukrainian forces are untrue.
The claims of large gains in and around the town are true.
Certain things cannot be talked about but will come to light soon with time.

Bakhmut Frontline 18/12/2022
The toughest fighting is towards the eastern and southern sides of the city.
Russian forces attempt to advance into the eastern outskirts whilst Ukrainian forces launch their own counterattacks. North East of Bakhmut the fighting rages just south of Pidhorodne around the gas station.

Russian forces are attacking from 7 main directions constantly launching frontal assaults with the support of heavy artillery and aviation.
The main goals of the operations currently is to partially surround Bakhmut from the south and the NE

From the eastern side of Bakhmut Russian forces are attempting to attack in 2 locations.
Firstly from the North east attacking down the road that leads to Bakhmuts'ke
Secondly towards eastern outskirts where fights take place on certain streets.

The destruction of the Russian Armed Forces combat capabilities is happening real time in Ukraine.

Not to mention the massive losses to special forces and paratrooper brigades. The infamous Russian spetsnaz is taking considerable losses in Ukraine due to Russian command using them in some instances as a frontal force instead of sabotage and reconnaissance.

However these units should not be underestimated and still are very deadly.

Thoughts on Kherson 🧵
A military retreat of this size would undoubtably take several days at least possibly even weeks.

If the Russian military follows basic logic they will hold the defensive lines with buffer troops in order to facilitate a withdraw. Professional units have been being pulled out for weeks now being replaced with mobilised soldiers.

However they is still a significant contingent of airborne regiments and spetsnaz groups along with thousands of mobilised soldiers.

My personal opinion on Kherson frontline:
Ukrainian original strategies involved inflicting maximum losses on Russian forces across the river and continuing to hit their supply points further weakening them in preparation for a later offensive.
👇 Ukrainian forces originally made some unexpected breakthroughs in certain areas and are now attempting to consolidate gains and push further while still sticking to a attrition base strategy.

Russian forces have made extremely limited territorial gains in the past week, their attacks north of Donbass do not subside.
Ukrainian forces have some progress in the South and are likely preparing to push in other areas. Kherson Frontline:
Ukrainian forces are conducting counteroffensive operations in order to degrade Russian combat capability on the isolated side of the river they also managed to liberate several towns.
Russian forces are attempting to retake lost positions fighting continues.
