We are seeing an opening for Harris to press the attack on Trump/MAGA economics while continuing to make Trump’s increasing threat to our freedoms and American democracy clear. Part II of our closing argument thoughts. 🧵 Our favorite term of art for the voters Harris has the biggest opportunity with is Rightfully Cynicals. Many are men. This group extends beyond just people who are actively struggling financially. Everyone paying attention to US politics has a little Rightfully Cynical in ‘em!

Some thoughts on why this election is so close, and another (easy, fun, and positive) action you can take down the stretch.

Part 1 of our closing argument, a quick 🧵. It’s so close because we are in an imagination battle, and Trump and MAGA have been telling a story that a lot of Americans find compelling. This story is amplified and reinforced every day by a sprawling media apparatus they completely control, and it has completely

Some thoughts about the messages that powered this week's stunning victories in VA and can keep Dems winning in '24, based on intel from our friends at @AdImpact and from @PrioritiesUSA’s snazzy new tool, AdHawk. Quick 🧵and don't miss these two stories -
One thing jumped out immediately from the AdHawk data: a LOT of seats were in play, and Dems had spending advantages ranging from modest to significant in most of them. Image

Good morning. We're not linking to it, but the Washington Post this morning is running a story about the mysterious forces that have broken our political system.

No one wants to hear this, and it's inconvenient for billionaire newspaper conglomerate owners, but: Image The whole premise is wrong here. Yes, there are structural problems with our democracy that go back to the founding. (hello, wildly disproportionate US Senate)

But trust in our system didn't just decay. It was attacked, deliberately, and for a pretty simple reason. By one side.

After he and his buddies get done laughing at an idea supported 59 to 6 (six!) by swing district voters, QMac lays out an economic story here that's worth responding to. A short, irritated 🧵: He says, “If you study Milton Friedman, he would tell you, the only place inflation is created is government." Aside from the argument by authority fallacy, here's what happened over the past two years: COVID relief and a scorching hot job market ...

Absolutely crucial story here that's relevant both to the reckless Republican Default and what's going to happen in 2024. @Prof_MPastor is right: telling Boomers they are "voting against their interests" is not going to cut it. We found a WILD example of this - quick 🧵 Almost everyone on earth has seen the short clip of Senator Mike Lee expressing his severe thirst for ripping up Social Security. But you need to see the entire thing -- as covered by @SamSeder in this @majorityfm episode -- to understand how this works.

One of the challenges we run into occasionally in the messaging and research side of our work is that when we describe in plain language what Rs are doing, it sounds so cartoonishly evil that voters flat don't believe it. Quick 🧵on #RepublicanTaxHeist strategy. So far, #MAGAMcCarthy has been pretty cagey about where he's headed. At least publicly. He's hemmed in by his tiny, wafer-thin majority, and has reportedly made all sorts of secret back room deals with the extremists he needs to keep on board to keep his ship (barely) afloat.

If you need some uplift for the fight today, watch this and share it. This is all the excuse we need to celebrate the four big "tentpole" short videos we've collaborated with @_TheWinCo on (that a lot of these amazing moments are from!) with a short 🧵⬇️

Now that the 2022 cycle is behind us, with the beautiful cherry on top of Warnock’s epic win, we want to take a moment to talk about the bigger picture, and put the spotlight on the people who made this cycle of improbable victories happen. (🧵) We're lucky to have a lot of donors in our network. All the respect and gratitude for them using their resources to make true, structural change. But our role in all of this is relatively small. It’s the organizers, candidates and campaign staff that are the heroes. However.

The title of the first gathering Way had in this cycle, in March of 2021, was The Case for Action. It wasn’t that we thought we could win, or that anyone could predict anything. It was the case that we had to act because our democracy was hanging in the balance. A 🧵. Image Deep organizing + strong narratives + bold candidates - that’s the current Way to Win. This thread is about what we did on the Strong Narratives side. It’s long, because we did … a lot. And this isn't even all of it. We're only hitting some of the high points here!

"Way to Win co-founder @jenancona said a 2024 contest against a GOP led by Trump as the nominee would be "easier" but they will be ready regardless.
"I think that would probably be easier but it's doable no matter who the candidate is... ...It's the entire Republican Party that has signed up to this extremist agenda... MAGA Republicans wanted to take away a series of freedoms, from reproductive rights to voting rights...

Thank you to @melmason and the @latimes for profiling the Plan to Win we have developed with dozens of groups on the ground in Arizona to mobilize the winning multiracial coalition that helped secure the Democratic trifecta in 2020: latimes.com/politics/story… Some highlights: Ahead of November, it will be local leaders on the ground who can cut through the noise and inspire voters to turn out. Organizations like @OVOV_AZ + @LUCHA_AZ were responsible for adding 58k new voters in a state where Biden’s margin of victory was <10k votes.
