The Economist's World Democracy Index 2021 came out today. They seem to have come to rather different conclusions about Israel than Amnesty did with its "apartheid" smear last week. The Economist says Israel is the only democracy of any kind in the Middle East and North Africa, having downgraded Tunisia to a "hybrid regime".

THREAD This week is Palestinian Child Solider Week. It is a week to highlight the stolen childhood of Palestinian minors who are turned from innocents to militants. This thread will list key figures and end with an ask to write to UNICEF asking them to prevent this violence (1) Children in the UK go to summer camps and enjoy arts and crafts, sports, arts and dance. Here are a few examples: (1) One of the oldest antisemitic tropes: Zionist/Jewish money controlling the world. This 'control' was the suggested reason that @jeremycorbyn wasn't elected as PM. But in case we weren't sure if it were Jews or Zionists being referred to 'Harris is married to a Jewish man.' (2)

Some predictably disappointing, distorted and disingenuous reporting from @guardian on Israel and Gaza this morning @HonestReporting @adamlevick @SimonPlosker @ukmediawatch theguardian.com/world/2019/mar… It starts as it means to go on: “Gaza is on edge before a planned Saturday protest to mark the anniversary of mass rallies along its frontier, after a year in which Israeli soldiers have shot thousands of people.”
