Southern Baptists: Did you know the @ERLC has an official Reserach Fellow who defends Drag Queen Story Hour?
He even calls it "desirable."
@ERLC The @ERLC Research Fellow who defends Drag Queen Story House is a man named Paul Miller (@PaulDMiller2)
He was added as a fellow for the 2024-2025 class.
This was AFTER he defended Drag Queen Story Hour as "desirable."
Next I checked for anything from @between2worlds, who really wants people to think he’s a conservative
But nothing /2

I didn’t intend to draw such a sharp contrast between the @ERLC and @BaptistLeaders on this issue, but God was working in the background. / 🧵/
When I gave these quotes to the @RepubSentinel, I didn’t know @LeatherwoodERLC had signed the ERLC onto a letter *advocating* that your taxpayer dollars keep funding the dangerous and wasteful work of NGOs like World Relief.
But he had.
As @njhochman shows here, the entire NGO industry for “refugee resettlement” is a taxpayer funded grift that subverts our immigration laws and endangers American citizens. /2
I listened to the entire Twitter space with Barber and some members of the cooperative group discussing TBR recommendations.
What they said at the end about the “disfellowshiping” language should be concerning to SBC churches.
A brief /🧵/ on why. /1
Wellman said “There is no mechanism to disfellowship a church.”
This is a bit of semantic acrobatics. The act of determining that a church is no longer in friendly cooperation with the SBC extends beyond simply “not seating” their messengers, as some on space tried to argue /2

I'm thrilled to announce the soft launch of the Center for Baptist Leadership (@baptistleaders)!
Our mission is big but simple: Cultivate uncompromising Baptist leadership for institutional revitalization in the SBC for God's glory & our nation's good /1 centerforbaptistleadership.org
The SBC is America's largest Protestant denomination. It is one of the most important Christian institutions in our country
As it stands today, it's not in good shape
We have strayed from our conservative theological commitments and traded biblical beliefs for worldly values /2

It's been a busy week, but before I get the main paper on Baptists & Christian Nationalism out, here is a thread /🧵/ of my already published writings on the subject.
Those bent on ad hominem and misrepresentation won't engage these, but perhaps my smarter followers will. /1
First, what's the difference between patriotism and nationalism, and can Christians be both?
I'm getting pretty tired of watching otherwise conservative/sound pastors twist examples from God's Word to wield as weapons against brothers who are working to offer *strategic options* for how to best live in these hard days that fall into the realm of wisdom & prudence.
/🧵/ 1
The question of leaving or staying in a "blue state" is exactly one of those.
That decision is not, inherently, a matter of sin vs. righteousness. For someone like @NathanielJolly or @1689Broadcast to cast those proposing that as being "against God's church" is heinous abuse. /2

The ship of our nation has sprung about a dozen leaks. We are taking on water fast.
Some men are tying to propose solutions by returning to God’s Word, history, and forgotten truths (Christian Nationalists)
Some men are saying “everything is fine” (Classical Liberals)
Some men are saying “just preach the gospel” (Pietists)
But perhaps the worst are the men calling it a LARP (Mockers). They have cushy gigs in safe institutions. They sell books pointing out the flooding ship to passengers! But they have no positive proposals to stop the leaks.

"In 1776, every colonist, with the exception of about two thousand Jews, identified himself or herself as a Christian. Approximately 98 percent of them were Protestants, and the remaining 2 percent were Roman Catholics."
--@MDH_GFU, "Did America Have a Christian Founding."
"A final possibility for the meaning of a “Christian founding” is that the founders were influenced by Christian ideas.
I believe this is the most reasonable way to approach the question, Did America have a Christian founding?"

Can a liberal democracy survive without a Christian foundation? This is perhaps the most pressing question of our present moment. Christians and conservatives alike need an answer.
Let's consider one man's answer to that in what's known as the "Böckenförde Paradox." /🧵/
Modernity argues that secularism can provide a moral foundation for society. This is a mirage.
At best, the reality is that secular liberal governments operate on “borrowed capital” from Christianity.
This was the thesis of the German philosopher Ernst-Wolfgang Böckenförde. /2

A /🧵/ on the marriage discourse:
2 things are true:
Some Christians desire nothing more than to get married and the Lord hasn’t brought them a spouse yet.
And then there are many, many Christians who are foolishly putting off marriage because they want the “single life.” /1
For the first group, we must have great love & compassion, words of comfort from God’s Word to sustain them in their trial.
For the second group, who are rejecting the God-glorifying pursuit of marriage, the warnings of men like @thisisfoster are spot on and should be heeded /2

I'm not an integralist.
But deeply dishonest actors, using the same tactics as the Woke Marxists, have decided to try and slander me (and others) as such.
They've done so by taking a page right of "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky. /1
They are employing two main rules, Rule 5 and Rule 11
Rule 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It's hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."
That's why they use foul language, "retard," "idiot," etc. /2

Guess all those awesome, dedicated parents should stop running for the school board now since power is apparently so thoroughly bad.
Can't trust a mom who tries to get a seat on the school board to stop woke indoctrination since she wanted power so bad.
Oh and all those Red State governors who are using their position to pass good laws protecting their people and preserving freedom and sanity - hardest hit by the "power is bad" squad.
Should probably resign today.

I've been hard at work writing "Biblical Worldview" pieces for @freedomcenterlu on a variety of political issues.
I'm going to share some of my latest pieces here.
I hope these help equip you and your church to tackle the most pressing questions of faith and politics. /🧵/
First, here is piece that "begins with the beginning" when it comes to Christians and politics: The Bible.
"When asked to defend your beliefs in public, never be afraid to say, 'Because the Bible tells me so.' It’s the best answer you could ever give." /2 standingforfreedom.com/2023/02/begin-…
