Claude McKay was a Jamaican poet, writer & communist who relocated to the u.s., traveling thru the south before arriving in NYC, where he became a prominent member of the Harlem Renaissance during the 1920s.

Leqaa Kordia is a 32-year old Palestinian woman from the West Bank who was kidnapped by ICE in March 2025 for participating in a protest at Columbia University. She is still detained at the Prairieland Detention Facility in TX, where 16 anti-ICE protestors are also being held 🧵 On June 4, 2025, Leqaa wrote a statement in Arabic from her prison cell, which her loved ones translated into English.
