3. Novak applied, his application was reviewed anonymously by two medical panels and an exemption was granted for him.

Amid the many and very welcome tributes to Djokovic as Player of the Decade, I want to write a thread about another battle that he won this year.

A battle fought not on court, but in the boardroom, in the press room, fending off attacks from Twitter&and the media. The origins of this battle go back to 2016, when Novak was voted President of the Player Council by his colleagues.

I remember the media strongly backing Murray&being bitterly disappointed with how the players voted.

There was one nasty article... and then silence.

Absolute, undiluted love ❤️ for @DjokerNole WARNING: What follows is a tribute to my favourite player, the best player I have been fortunate enough to see in action in a lifetime of watching tennis: Mr Novak Djokovic.

On May 26th. 2005, I saw @DjokerNole play for the first time and became a fan.
I remember calling my husband and telling him:"Look at this boy. He'll be #1 one day". Little did I know how much more he would be.
To celebrate this 14th anniversary, I decided to reminisce. ❤️ We need to go back one more year, to 2004,to Roland Garros. I loved that tournament because the entire "Legión Argentina" was there: Cañas, Zabaleta, Calleri, Chela, Mónaco, Nalbandian, Gaudio, Coria... I loved them all... I wanted all Argentinian SFs and almost got my wish.😍

So, as promised yesterday, I will tell you a story about how Novak Djokovic contributed to mathematical knowledge.

Is it corny and trite? Maybe. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But it's the absolute truth. 😀 Before I start let me tell you what a pure mathematician does: we solve "open" mathematical problems, problems which haven't been solved by anybody.

We answer questions about mathematical structures and give the answer in the form of a statement, together with a rigurous proof.
