Alhaitham left his mate, Kaveh, to partake in a desert expedition as ordered by their god.

Five years later, he returns home.

Kaveh has to get used to having his alpha in his life again. The caravan leaves today.

The sky is the color of an old bruise: dark blue and purple, hinting at sunrise. Scholars, all of them alphas dressed in dark traveling garb, clamor beneath the dawn, hugging and kissing their omegas goodbye.

No one wants to leave.

The younger Alhaitham squawks. "But--"
"Darling!" A voice calls from outside the house. "I'm home!"
The younger Alhaitham gasps. "You got married?!"

Or, fifteen-year-old Alhaitham ends up in the future. Exposure to ley lines can have devastating side effects.

Dizziness, hallucinations, and imbalance in the vessels are the usual outcomes reported by individuals exposed to the glowing spheres of energy. Hence, most people tend to avoid them.

Alhaitham isn't like most people.

A client rejected his design. He got into a fight with treasure hoarders. He lost and ended up limping home.

Kaveh maintains his composure until he reaches his room. He tries to draw.

He can't. He broke his wrist.

Kaveh finally starts crying. He tries again, attempting to sketch a simple line. His wrist won't cooperate, stinging with every movement, and Kaveh crushes his quill in frustration.

He buries his face in his hands, giving in to his grief. His warm tears run down his cheeks and drip onto the paper.

The young boy meets two peculiar people: "Haitham," who is kind to him for seemingly no reason at all, and "Kamran," who is strangely distant and seems determined to avoid Kaveh as much as possible. Kaveh isn't sure what happened. He was sprawling on the dirt, drawing happily with a stick, when his head began to hurt.

The boy trembles, clutching his temples. The pain is too much, persistent and unfamiliar, and Kaveh curls into himself with a whimper.

Kaveh bites his lip. "Do you remember my twin brother, Kian?"
"What about him?" Alhaitham asks.
The blond meets his eyes. "He's coming to visit me next week."

Kaveh's brother stays at Alhaitham and Kaveh's home for a week.
The scribe tries to maintain his sanity. Kaveh is bursting with news.

His excitement isn't evident to most people, but Alhaitham has known him for a decade. Kaveh thrums with more energy today, the personification of a live wire. He practically vibrates in his seat every time the roommates come together for meals.

I hope if Kaveh gets a hangout, we get to attend the class he teaches in the Akademiya 🤭 JUST IMAGINE SEEING KAVEH IN TEACHER-MODE 🥺🥺🥺 He would be so passionate as he teaches us about his craft and we get to hear the happiness in his voice 🥺🥺🥺 I HOPE THE TRAVELER GETS TO ANSWER DURING RECITATION 🥺🥺🥺

The journalist sees the clothes that are too big to belong to Kaveh. He concludes that Kaveh has a secret husband 🤭 Kaveh blushes when he reads the journalist's article.

`The Light of Kshahrewar's home is modest, but its elegance makes it remarkable. It also offers a glimpse into the architect's life: various clothes and trinkets hint that Sumeru's most eligible bachelor is off the market.`

Kaveh touches himself to the thought of Alhaitham 😳

He sits on his bed, with only a thin wall separating him from Alhaitham's own bed (Kaveh would know, he designed the wall). At first, he's silent, but as time passes, he grows louder, hoping Alhaitham hears him. Kaveh is sure Alhaitham does hear him. But the scribe never mentions anything, quiet as a mouse even as Kaveh is whining his junior's name as he paws at himself.

Alhaitham's silence only motivates Kaveh to wail louder.

"Yes?" Kaveh doesn't look up from his draft.

"We are an academic family, right?"

"Indeed," Kaveh looks at him. "What of it?"

Alhaitham avoids his eyes. "Does that make me your academic husband?"

Kaveh chokes. It takes a few seconds for the Kshahrewar senior to recover. "W-what? Where did this come from?!"

Alhaitham turns away, ears red. "It's just a thought." He glances at his senior. "A-are you disturbed by it?"

Surprised, yes. But disturbed? Kaveh shakes his head kindly.

"You can play it sensible, a king of conventional--" Kaveh sings "--or you can risk it all and see~" Then he winks at Alhaitham 😳🤭 Alhaitham and Kaveh are in Lambad's tavern, and Kaveh is dancing and singing with a top hat in an attempt to convince Alhaitham to join him 🤭

Alhaitham pretends to be disinterested while deep down, he has already said yes, he just wants to see Kaveh plead with him to join 😳🤭

Their difference in ideals finally gets the best of them, and Kaveh gives in first. He punches Alhaitham and 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 it. Alhaitham, recognizing that Kaveh's aggression also extends to everything he stands for, retaliates with his own fists. It was a straightforward fight: no tricks, no visions, just two men wielding the most primitive of weapons: their bodies and their convictions.

Alhaitham's nose bleeds. Kaveh's arm bruises. Their knuckles are both raw and bloodied. The tang of rust teases their tongues.

Alhaitham holds Kaveh in one arm as he consults a formula on his wrist.

"Is this even safe?" Kaveh murmurs, face red. Since when is Alhaitham strong enough to carry him?!

Alhaitham shrugs. "We'll find out." That doesn't assure Kaveh at all.

"Haitham!" The blond starts to struggle in Alhaitham's grip, but the man keeps a firm hold on his thighs. "Put me down! What if your computations are incorrect--?!"

"Then I'll forget to teleport your legs," Alhaitham replies. "No big deal."

One day, Alhaitham estimates the distance incorrectly, and he teleports too close to Kaveh. Kaveh, who has no idea, turns his head and accidentally kisses the scribe 😩😳 Hmm, doesn't Alhaitham's teleportation ability require lots of thinking? Like, he has to learn how to estimate in 3d space, and that probably involves mastery of the Cartesian coordinate system. Maybe he also had to learn how to do physics on the fly 🫢

Ngl that's kind of hot 😳

#haikaveh When Kaveh is delirious with a fever, Alhaitham held him and murmured poetry to his ear to calm him down.

"I can't tell you: I love you," Alhaitham whispers. "But I can write the words with lips on your brow, silently when you sleep, so your dream fingers can pick it." "My tragedy with you incomplete love," Alhaitham croons, "Was that I felt most happy seeing you, and most humiliated after it."

The scribe doubts Kaveh can understand him in his current state of mind, but Alhaitham is relieved to speak his thoughts all the same.

Bruh I swear, if Hoyo reveals that Kaveh has "sensitive wrists" or "blushes easily" or "is very good with his hands", I'M NEVER GOING TO SHUT UP ABOUT IT AND PUT IT IN EVERY HAIKAVEH CONTENT I CREATE 😩😩😩😳😳😳🤭🤭🤭 JUST IMAGINE WE'RE IN A QUEST AND ALHAITHAM AND KAVEH ARE BICKERING, THEN KAVEH SAYS, "shut up, Alhaitham, I'm literally a claymore user, I can lift this heavy artifact 😾" and Alhaitham replies, "with those sensitive wrists of yours? Yeah, right 🙄"

A metal frame with four wheels, accompanied by the purr of an engine. A handsome blond sits in the front seat, a hand on the steering wheel. "Hey," Kaveh smirks. "Wanna get on my 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑎ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑤𝑎𝑟?" A what, now?
Alhaitham stares at the "Carshahrewar" until Kaveh starts to wilt.
"Y-you don't have to," the architect stammers. "W-we can just walk home--"
He stops when Alhaitham opens the door on the front passenger seat.
"I'd love to," he grins as he slips in next to Kaveh.

#haikaveh During their fallout, Alhaitham lost his temper and lashed out at Kaveh with dendro. Five years later, Alhaitham's dendro energy never managed to leave Kaveh's body. It continues to restrict the architect's own dendro abilities while poisoning his body. The only solution is for someone to draw Alhaitham's dendro energy out of Kaveh's body. But every time Kaveh tries to do so, he gets flashbacks of the fallout and he panics, his body going into fight-or-flight mode out of instinct.

Due to his experiences in childhood, the architect will eat anything and has never complained to Alhaitham if there's no food in the house. Kaveh also tends to pilfer food and hides them in his room. His habits worry Alhaitham greatly. Alhaitham discovered Kaveh's stash on the day he decided to clean for once. He is sweeping the floor when he sees a trail of ants leading to something beneath Kaveh's bed. He's shocked to find a pile of their missing ingredients stacked neatly beneath the bedframe.

"This is for your own good!" Kaveh exclaims. "Don't you want to go home to someone who cares about you?!"
Alhaitham quirks his lip. "I'm already doing that." Kaveh turns red, turning back to washing the dishes. "I meant romantically. Like someone who'll want to kiss you after a long day at work."
The amusement is palpable in Alhaitham's voice. "Don't you want to do that?"
Kaveh almost throws a plate at him. "You--!"
