1776 Restoration Movement (formerly The People’s Convoy) leader David “Santa” Riddell has been arrested by DC Metro Police near the National Mall. DC Metro says they had a warrant for his arrest out of Maryland.

The 1776 Restoration Movement, formerly the People's Convoy, has descended on highways around the D.C. area and are now blocking three lanes of traffic on 95 north and 95 southbound. The group says they intend to block the highway in 30-minute intervals. Their leader David “Santa” Riddell just said police are “threatening to arrest” their 95 northbound group blocking three lanes of traffic.

Leaders of The People's Convoy have now called Maryland State Troopers on their followers as supporters consider storming into a luxury RV where leaders are hiding. "Squatters' rights!" a small group of convoy-goers start yelling.

After failing to occupy Washington, D.C., The People's Convoy has surrendered and is heading home with their vehicular tails between their legs.

The People's Convoy is attempting to secretly ambush D.C. at some point later tonight under cover of darkness. Yet, in utilizing both MDOT and listening to loose-lipped supporters, it appears the convoy is attempting to post up near the National Portrait Gallery. Back in Hagerstown, a fight among convoy members has broken out, with one woman claiming a man punched her husband in the face. “Get the fuck out of our campsite,” the woman further yelled.

Despite pledging to not pointlessly circle the Beltway, The People's Convoy made their return this afternoon and circled the Beltway. Naturally, the convoy found themselves stuck in rush-hour traffic around 3 p.m. today on the Beltway. A pretty big self-own to get into Beltway traffic for no reason if you ask me.

Tonight in Hagerstown, there was a heated exchange between growing factions of The People's Convoy over the direction of the movement and allegations of the convoy being "corrupt[ed]." Maryland State PD was called and arrested one man armed with a loaded firearm. "Right now, everything is under investigation," Maryland State Police Corporal Ciccarelli tells The Daily Beast.

Truckers with The People’s Convoy are back in DC proper but keep getting split up by red lights. Just ran about 10 blocks next to the trucker convoy - a lot of DC residents are telling them to “f*ck off.”

I'm on the Beltway where The People’s Convoy is struggling to occupy one lane of traffic let alone two. Most of them have been separated from one another - worse than yesterday. Near the Temple Hills area, a convoy trucker appears to have broken down as they have put out orange traffic triangles behind their truck while parked on the side of an exit ramp.

I’m currently out on the Beltway where The People’s Convoy has begun to fall apart and get disconnected as city drivers pass them. I’ve only seen a few folks gather above overpasses, so far:

Truckers part of The People's Convoy are leaving Hagerstown now and will do two laps around the Beltway. Organizer Brian Brase further pledged to increase the number of laps around the Beltway each day moving forward until their unspecified demands are met. Today the truckers left Hagerstown around 9:30am to get to the Beltway around 11am. Two laps on the 64 mile Beltway, even at 40mph, will leave them driving in circles to own the libs for at least 3.5 hours today.

I’m heading to Hagerstown Maryland for the night to see the convoy of trucks that will be descending on the Beltway in the morning and possibly the White House. Tonight they're holding a rally of sorts at a racetrack. As I make my way north, there are plenty of pro-Trump truckers coming in the opposite direction (towards DC) that are over-utilizing their horns.

I'm out in DC today serving as the Daily Beast’s trucker protest correspondent. Plenty of hype, but as of now I'm not seeing much! There's a protest slated for around high noon, but last night the organizer’s permit backtracked on his prediction for a massive turnout. The trucker protest by the Washington Monument is off to a slow and cold start. As of now, only 10 folks with the “Stage of Freedom” event are here. More press and police than rally-goers.

I’m currently out in Washington, D.C. area traffic attempting to locate Scranton-based trucker Bob Bolus’ tiny convoy and there are three big problems: Bolus has no idea where he is going, is stuck in traffic, and has no idea where he is. Things aren't going great. Tons of brake lights out here and Bolus along with his sidekick Betsy don’t know where they’re going but insist “helicopters” are following them.
