Throughout history, the Church has worked in her various Synods and Councils to correct error, find Truth, and ensure reconciliation wherever possible.
This has been accomplished through Consensus as opposed to a Majority.
Nor has it used a Monarchal head to dictate downwards. A thread. 🧵
In St. Luke’s book of Acts, we see the first major Synod/Council of Jerusalem.
This was presided over by the local Bishop (St. James), and was convened to correct errors regarding multiple subjects. Most notably, what was expected of Christians who were not ethnically Jewish.
