🧵 Very keen to see how GitHub's new Discussions feature goes. Some thoughts in thread for maintainers, contributors, and its potential for the OSS community in general StackOverflow had its time in the sun but is pretty hostile these days, particularly to beginners. Reddit is similarly often hostile, prone to cults of personality, and generally just a bad tool for _technical_ discussion beyond a shallow level.

#KnowYourWorth I get it’s uncomfortable for many to talk about this stuff and it’s not for everyone, but I think it’s important and hope others will join in. Aside from helping inform others of their own worth, it also encourages companies to be more transparent.
