Well...Gov consultations are boring, long, formal, and hosted on gov.uk — not a political party website. “How do you know it’s not a real consultation?” For example — remember when there was the gov consultation on the Gender Recognition Act; organisations like Stonewall had to help folks fill it out because it was so complicated.Also, the gov don’t need to consult on this — it has been read in parliament and passed with a big majority.Additionally, this is the Tory’s flagship policy — they’re doing a huge job of making sure people know they’ve successfully enacted a manifesto promise. That involves Facebook advertising.This is very normal practise — at Labour we would target people we thought would support us, to engage them, too. It’s just marketing.
