"Follow the White Rabbit" was an explicit early QAnon reference at the start of the movement. This 19 year old created propaganda, in September 2021 & march 2022 which likely inspired the Buffalo shooter, as screencaps from the 19year old made it in the Buffalo shooters manifesto & diary. In Turn the Buffalo shootter in turn inspired the Bratislava attacker to mobilize.

In an interesting turn of events, a network of neo-fascist accelerationists had been moving digital assets to TamTam, in light of Telegrams continued efforts to shutdown their channels; however, this morning TamTam nuked all their channels and chats. TamTam is a messaging service developped by VK, that is similar to Telegram but with less of the functionality. TamTam is one of the platforms that ISIS supporters moved to in 2019 when telegram became to hostile for them.

Today marks the 5th year since the inception of QAnon. The movement has drastically changed and evolved since it first emerged. Not only in size of the movement, but also in the way that it manifests itself, as well as how far globally it is now found. As I'm finishing the last chapter of my dissertation and I am reading chapters I wrote in 2019 using data and primary sources from 2017, 2018, 2019 vs what I have written in 2020, 2021 or 2022 we really have several different iterations of QAnon and the threat it can pose.

This means that in 2022 there have been two successful (Buffalo and Bratislava) and 2 failed plots (Falköping and Bari) inspired by the Christchurch attacker.

This morning I got to present on a panel about the lessons learned from the Buffalo attack. We as a community of experts and practitioners OWE IT to the victims to not retraumatize them. 2/n

Had the honor of presenting with @Blyth_Crawford and @AmarAmarasingam on an @EradicateHate_ plenary on the throughline of threats from violent extremists by examine the recent history of mass shooters. Here are some key points from my presentation #EradicateHate 1/n A key point we have found from our threat assessment of these recent incidents & the ideological material evidence they left behind is what we're calling the "wiki effect" of these attacks, where each individual attackers contributes to the larger product of violent extremism 2/n

A key pattern I have found in studying QAnon is how adherents shift their perception of good and evil over time. E.G. A conspiracy theory circulating in the ecosystem at the moment is that Trump, Xi Ji Ping, Putin and Kim Jong-Un are working together to take down the cabal Generally, across the ideological spectrum, China, Russia and North Korea tend to be seem as "enemies" or "evil" or "the bad guys" both in political and cultural depictions.

The prosecutors state in the build up to The Tree of Life Attack, the shooter became focused on conspiracy theories associated with racist or anti-immigrant movements, including QAnon. But as @AlKapDC pointed out to me his belief in QAnon is incorrect.

He was however espousing belief in various conspiracy theories, though belief in CTs does not belong solely to the QAnon movement, which is a common flawed comparison.

Joshua Moon (owner of KiwiFarms) gave an update on the status of the website on Telegram today after DDoS-Guard dropped KiwiFarms. Moon states he was caught off guard by CloudFlare and DDoS-Guard's decision and currently does not have a plan C. KiwiFarms is facing other issues as CloudFlare was both the DDoS mitigation service and the domain registrar. CloudFlare has given a way to transfer their registrar, but Moon does not know who to switch to as he has little faith that another registrar will support the platform

Been re-reading literarture on conspiracy theories for one of the last chapters of my PhD, and I was reviewing the literature on conspiracy theories as "stigmatized knowledge" (knowledge claims that have not been accepted by those institutions we rely upon for truth validation) One thing that has caught my interest about what Barkun has set out is how this concept now plays out in the fluid way we use technology and social media, especially as a means of gaming the access and curation of "secret knowledge" for conspiracy theorists.

2/ Unlike most previous attackers, the Buffalo shooter left a wealth of writing behind (180 page manifesto and 673 pages of discord logs), which provides an important window into his planning, ideological commitments, as well as what he wanted his legacy to be.

In discussion with @AmarAmarasingam about the Highland park shooting, we (analyst/ research/ journalistic community) need to take stock of our our own biases and buy we have when analyzing this incident as this individuals does not have a straight forward ideological motivation. though we can highlight specific extremists patterns and aesthetics, I think it's important to point out that we should not hold up one part, above another, of this attacker's complex web of motivations as the single motivating factor for this attack.
