Based on recent events in my life, I want to remind everyone of a few things. 🧵

1. Not wanting yourself or others to catch Covid, and doing your utmost to avoid it does not mean that you are anxious or unstable; 2. It is possible to have safe indoor gatherings, if everyone wears an N95, and never removes it while indoors, and you ventilate and fter the air;

OK, here we go again. The updated Thread of Availability for PPE. This time it's going to cover disposable respirators (N95s), elastomeric respirators, both half and full mask, and goggles. Keep in mind that stock levels can change rapidly. I know that a lot of the places that have availability are requiring that one buy a case which is beyond the reach of many, but consider clubbing together with family/friends/coworkers to split the cost. Also consider adding goggles, or at the very least glasses.

Our healthcare system is overwhelmed. People will die from what are normally relatively minor ailments. Albertans need to stop complying with UCP insanity. If you are able, start by not sending your child to school. At this point, the dangers far outweigh the benefits. Don't go shopping in person. Do curbside pick up. It means fewer people in a space and is safer for both you and the employees. Now is not the time for recreational shopping, and I say this as a pre-pandemic recreational shopper.

@yknot05 @JulieYAli @shandro @jkenney @Alberta_UCP She will be thrown under the bus regardless. She might as well make the orders that need to be made, and dare them/wait for them to fire her. With the situation here, it would look very bad for them if the repealed her orders, and replaced her. It might wake some people up. 1/ @yknot05 @JulieYAli @shandro @jkenney @Alberta_UCP Her replacement would be an obvious political plant, so people would be less likely to be lulled into any sense of security by what they were saying. Also, this government relies on putting pressure on people to get them to acquiesce to what it is doing. 2/

Let me tell you a little story about one of the lazy, overpaid doctors the UCP likes to tell you about. In a 30 day period, this doctor worked a minimum of 12 hours a day, and had 3 days off. He was finally going to have a couple of days off in a row. He was looking forward to getting to sleep in, and spend some time with his young child. But on the first morning of his two day break, he got a call from the hospital to tell him that one of his patients had unexpectedly died.

@dr_oru @snapthennap This is so true. If we funded certain other social determinants of health better, I'm sure, in the long run, our healthcare costs would go down. Take psychiatry for example. Sure, there are definitely some people that need to be hospitalised, but 1/ @dr_oru @snapthennap there is a substantial contingent of people who do not need to be in an acute care hospital, but are there for a variety of reasons which I'll get to in a minute. When you think about how much it costs per day to house someone in an acute care hospital, or 2/

Ok, looong thread here. Now we've all had a chance to get some of that feeling of hand-wringing, hopelessness, and anger out yesterday, it's time to get ourselves together and move forward against the UCP. Let's face it, there are more of us than there are of them. I understand the temptation to pack up and leave Alberta is strong. That was my initial thought too, but that's what the UCP wants. They want those who are educated and have job skills that can transfer jurisdictions, easily, to leave.
