A thread on Manchester City's potential new signing. Claudio Echeverri is the newest talent to come out of River Plate's Academy- the same one that produced Julian Alvarez and Enzo Fernandez.

He is a classic 10- one who is blessed with the potential to become an elite goalscoring creator.

Manchester City under Pep Guardiola have constantly craved one thing- 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲.

𝗔 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 on how City have achieved these 'central overloads' so far— and a potential solution that could add another layer of depth and unpredictability.🔵🧵 Manchester City's dominance in the middle comes from one simple term- Overloads.

A tactic, wherein, one team has more players in a specific portion of the pitch, and in this case, the central areas.

In light of that, I'd like to explore one thing:

A thread! Now, I must say that one solution to fill in KDB's absence is using a combination of Nunes and Foden— the former for his PnP and ball-carrying, and Foden for his final pass and carrying.

However, Jack Grealish can be another solution, as we analyse why we was so good at Villa.

What makes the Belgian such a good two-way threat?

A thread. Jeremy Doku's start to life at City has been.. electric. The game against Fulham saw a shy youngster, showing glimpses of what he was capable.

The game against West Ham, however, showed a player who had taken a big jump in progress- dynamism, playmaking, creating.

Julian Alvarez- Striker, Space invader, and maximizing Haaland's gravity.

A thread. Julian Alvarez is an incredible player.

- Ball-striking that's a difference maker.
- Ability to drop deep and add a +1 to build-up.
- Excellent associative play and exploitation of space.

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City- Combating new set-ups and structures with old ideas.

Ideas that will only add more variety to our attacking play.

A thread. Pep Guardiola's time at City has been all about 'perfecting' his football- inverted FBs (Cancelo, Delph) as an extra passing lane, the use of a technical man as a 9 (Foden, Bernardo) to offer build-up quality, the recent introduction of 'wide duellers' (Ake, Walker) as FBs.

One of City's best methods of chance creation was the winger slowing the game down, and releasing a runner from an interior position.

Especially common on the right side, with De Bruyne making the runs and putting crosses in.

Did you ever think John Stones would ever become a world-class midfielder? Well, Pep Guardiola has used Stones in a hybrid role alongside Rodri, and he’s thrived there this season!

A thread! Pep’s blueprint since the turn of the year has been clear- a 3-2-4-1 that comprises a 3-2 shape in the build-ups. The Catalan deployed Rico Lewis alongside Rodri, and his technical security allowed an extra man in build-up, ensuring another level of control.

2) Rice/Caicedo/Lavia
3) Olise

Will look for more RWs we could target, but I'm a fan of Olise. Shades of Mahrez, lots of potential.

Natural LB- Guerreiro. Not a must signing but while he's defensively suspect, it adds a nice bit of versatility to the squad.

As for an advanced interior, love Wirtz/Guler. So much quality and they're capable of operating on the flank too. Heard good things about Xavi Simons but haven't watched him, Maddison isn't a bad shout either.

Our issues, since the Spurs game, have been fixed. We struggled to defend with 5 at the back and attack with 5, but Guardiola's 3-2-2-3 shape has fixed it. The build-up has seen much improvement, thanks to the 3-2 build-up, with Ederson as a false CB and Gundogan dropping deep occasionally. 7 men in the first/second phase, instant superiority.

Erling Haaland and Gravity- impacting games without the goals.

A quick thread. Likes and RTs appreciated. 52 goals. 50 games. Countless records shattered in his first season in England, and one criticism remains: Erling Haaland does not enough outside the goals.
